I could really use a beginner modkit CAZ tutorial! Alternatively, give me a suggestion as to how to solve this: My mod project exports to Blender using .gtlf, I edit the mesh there, export back to Modkit using .fbx, looks good there!, have modkit create local package, open Inzoi, my mod is there but the material/mesh is crumpled up inside the body (don’t ask me how I discovered that!) I’ve created izoi asset replacement mods using FModel, Blender, and UE5 and thought using Modkit would be easier.
Hi there! Did you export it to the modkit using the official blender modkit plugin? If you could show me screenshots of how your materials look in-game and how the material ball is set up inside of the modkit it’d be great

Thanks for replying! Let’s start with your first comment: “official blender modkit plugin.” Could you give me the filename & where I can download it? I have blender addons from last year that I’ve been using, but am not sure if its what you’re referring to.
As to the beginners tutorial I want: I’ve looked all over and found a beginners tutorial for build objects, but not CAZ. You’d think that’d already exits, but I haven’t found one. I don’t want to waste your time; if you know of one send me a link! It’s so nice of you to reply to this!!
This might save you looking yourself, here’s what I have in Blender: Blender add-on: Maintainer inZoi studio, Version 1.0; “__ init__.py” That looks official to me. Epic won’t let me download again to see if the version is out of date.
Hi there! If you have the modkit, you can find the plugin in the modkit installation files in your computer: C:Program Files/Epic Games/inZOIMODkit/inZOIMODkit/Extras. I believe the plugin you are using is the unofficial one which I don’t think is working as intended at the moment.
You can install the official addon by dragging the addon files into blender and clicking accept.
Install the plugin, copy skin weights onto your mesh, export it to the modkit and try again. If you’re still experiencing the same issue, hit me up! I’ll be happy to take another look at it.
Your reply got me wondering if I was on the correct versions everywhere. I uninstalled and reinstalled modkit and the blender addon. (BTW - I was on the correct addon already.) I have multiple blender releases that I use for other mods, and may have been on another version of blender. Being careful and only using Blender 4.3.2 with the current addon and modkit has achieved some success.
Here’s the oddity: My asset replacement mod seems to fail when I export .gltf files from modkit but works sorta if I export .fbx files. The trouble there is that there’s multiple meshes within the .fbx file.
Beginner that I am to modkit, I followed a beginners guide to modkit build with an example object. When reimporting the file back into modkit a caz project diverges, so that’s the point that I believe I’m floundering. I still don’t know what I’m doing wrong there.
Enough is working that I can continue, so thanks for helping me get this far!
I’m glad if I was of any help! If you find yourself stuck again, feel free to ask. Best of lucks!
