@HeinziDerHeld @LennyOgg @JoyIsFunner Can your confirm the bug with your end?
It’s a graphic bug related to Unreal Engine 5, the core of inZOI. These blurry, wavy shadow effects (in combination with a grainy shimmering) are what UE5 is known for and, from what I know, the devs have been working on toning it doen / fixing it since pre-release in March last year.
If it annoys you too much, which is understandable, then you can try some different graphics settings. This bug gets better with less raytracing, as far as I remember ![]()
What kind of settings do you recommend? I’ll manage until the problem is resolved.
Unfortunately, I’m not very qualified to give you advice on that because I’m very weird when it comes to settings and preferences. Maybe someone reading this has more detailed knowledge?
BTW, can you upload screenshots of your graphics settings? If anybody can help, it’d be useful to know what your current configuration is ![]()
I’m not playing inZOI due to lighting issues and color bleeding so I cannot confirm this bug, however your videos show it very well ![]()
@Samuriko What does my friend think about this? I am curious . Can you confirm the bug?
Haven’t noticed this in my game… yet.
Have you tried the usual procedere?
Without mods
in a new save
gamefiles verified?
What is your setting for the animation length?
Tooltip says higher values make the animations smoother
My best friend Ii’ve tried them all unfortunately it’s still the same.
This doesn’t look like an animation it looks like a shadow bug.
Try changing your Anti-aliasing settings. Don’t use TAA/TSR.
Are you kidding? The game is becoming unplayable. Developers absolutely must resolve this issue.
I wasn’t kidding. Like Heinzi mentioned, this is a graphic bug that’s common to Unreal Engine 5.
Switching to another antialiasing method outside of TAA/TSR can sometimes get rid of it. Another possible cause is motion blur but I don’t really see it in the settings. Problem is we’re not sure what’s causing it in your case. If it is caused by UE5, I think there’s a limited way of resolving that issue from the dev side.
Just trying to provide input here, no need to be hostile.
I’m not being hostile. but the settings you mentioned makes the game unplayable. Motion blur is already off. Since there’s no graphics mode the problem isn’t my fault everyone’s experiencing it.
@JoyIsFunner @LennyOgg @HeinziDerHeld @Samuriko
I changed the settings live but it’s still the same. In fact it looks even worse with the settings our @jujunesu suggested. Also the shadows of all objects are like that.
I tried fiddling with my own settings. Here’s what I found:
Anti-aliasing:
- OFF - I get the same shadow noise that you reported
- FXAA - I get the same shadow noise that you reported but less than OFF
- TSR - No shadow noise
- TAA - No shadow noise
The only thing I can think that may be causing it is perhaps your graphics card software is overriding the game’s settings? Other settings didn’t factor into the shadow noise (apart from turning off shadows which removed the noise along with the shadows completely). I copied all the settings that you have on the images as well.
FXAA is expected to come out worse - reason why I recommended trying switching out of TSR/TAA is because UE5 is known to have issues with shadow mapping at times with TSR/TAA.
I’m running on an RTX 3080 notebook if that makes any difference.

Maybe it’s because of AMD FSR? Try to turn it off or change this setting. I have Nvidia, but I had a similar effect because of DLAA
