I’ve been spending a lot of time in inZOI lately, but I’ve noticed a persistent issue regarding NPC behavior. Most of the time, Zois never come up to greet me or start a conversation; I’m always the one who has to initiate the interaction. This makes the world feel a bit one-sided and repetitive.
I’m wondering if this is related to the Smart Zoi system or if there’s a specific setting I might be missing. Is anyone else experiencing this “passive” NPC behavior?
My System Specifications:
Laptop: Casper Excalibur G770
CPU: Intel Core i5-12450H
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 (4GB VRAM)
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD
OS: Windows 11
Driver Version: 596.21 (Latest)
Current Settings & Observations:
I keep my FPS capped at 58-60 FPS to maintain thermal stability.
I’ve tried adjusting autonomy settings, but NPCs still seem very reactive rather than proactive.
Even with the latest driver update, the “social magnetism” of the AI feels low.
Is this a known limitation of the current build, or could my hardware (specifically VRAM/CPU) be causing the AI to deprioritize social scripts to save performance?
Would love to hear if there are any workarounds or if this is something we should wait for a patch on.
Like, it’s not the case that I’d be walking down the street and suddenly someone would come up and ask me something - that doesn’t happen.
But at the same time, something like this constantly occurs: my character is sitting in a café, communicating with neighbors according to my instructions. Then he runs out of the actions I’ve assigned to him, and suddenly he gets up, leaves, and goes out onto the street where he just stands silently. And only after some time does someone from the residents approach him to say something - seemingly having walked nearly a couple of blocks to get there, apparently. That is, the initiative came from them.
But it’s hard for me to say whether this is autonomous behavior on the part of another Zoi, or if this NPC simply tried to join an already ongoing conversation that I initiated while sitting in the café with other Zois.
I think they made it so that the zoi that initiates an interaction stands still and the other zoi comes to them. Does your zoi ever approach NPCs autonomously? They might actually be responding to the other zoi starting a conversation
@Carnel this seems to be very similar to the know bug:
Previously this only happened when your Zoi was having a conversation with others. Now after the latest patch this seems to also happen when your Zoi is alone.
But on topic: it actually does happen autonomously in my game. If I did not order my Zoi to talk to somebody I find them in conversations with NPCs from time to time. I don’t know though if my Zoi autonomously decided to start the talk or the NPC Zoi. But it happens without my intervention if they are left without order chain with things to do.
Yes, that’s precisely the point - we can’t know for certain who initiated it. Whether our Zoi started the conversation or an NPC did - it’s unclear, we’re only observing the consequences.
