I didn’t know stealing Canvas uploads was a thing .. I thought that it tags the original creator … I am shocked this is a thing are people so uncreative they must steal creations to get attention that is so wrong on so many levels I hope your creations have not suffered due to that theif.
To be fair, the original creator is indeed tagged as original creator, but this credits appear at the very bottom of the zoi page after scrolling quite a bit, something most people won’t do because the download button is a the top of the page. Likes, comments and follows all go to the reuploader, and there has been cases where an original work did not get into the rankings, but then somebody reuploaded it with little to no modifications and it ended up on the rankings.
Imagine you run a marathon but a guy snatches your marathon number and pushes you to the side right before crossing the line, then gets the medal. It’s kind of frustrating to be honest ![]()
I get that and now am wondering who may have stolen my creations if anyone since mine are mediocre at best there is plenty of room for improvement I’m sure of that.
I happens more often than you think! I caught mine almost accidentaly. And don’t sell your creations short, I’m pretty sure they look great ![]()
same theres a zoi in the canvas that look suspiciously similar to my zoi with the same name, which i had up on canvas for some time but privated eventually, who would upload such bad zois as mine lol
Why is the block on Canvas not bidirectional and why is it even possible to create multiple accounts?!
Please intervene
Yes, I hope this gets resolved soon. Even word from the developers that they are aware of the issue would be an advancement.
I’ll only download things without credits from now on. I definitely don’t want to support that. What else can be done to prevent that from happening?
I don’t believe there’s a lot more that we can do as user to prevent it. But your idea is good and might have a small impact. Let’s support only creators who make original content ![]()
I checked again and I found Zois that were created by someone and someone else just restyled them and reuploaded them. I’m really sorry, I wasn’t aware of what was happening here. I really had no idea about it. Maybe other players don’t know about it either, there needs to be clarification about this!
How are they doing this? I have been testing out different ways to change Zois and seeing if credit is still given. So far it has been giving them credit. I changed faces, clothes, skin, eyebrows, eyelashes, gender and even adjusted the faces, but the game still gives them credit so i am not sure where the issue is coming from.
With that said I have noticed that textures are not protected. So I have some textures I got from who knows where that I personally want to use for myself, but I also have a copyright free texture site that I download from, and I also make my own from time to time, those I’d like to share.
The game doesn’t let me properly sort them so they don’t get mixed up, but also if I download another players texture, i can use it to make something else and they are not credited for their texture which i was compiling my photos together to write about on the forums before I spotted this post.
They do not
You are right partly. The game indeed still gives indication of who is the original creator if you scroll down, which most people won’t do so it would be nicer if credit is either given on top of the download page or if people can’t reupload other people’s creation without permission (as in the OP can choose if their creations can be modified and reuploaded or not)
