At some point, a massive number of homeless ZOIs started spawning around a specific family’s house. It multiplied to the point where the game became literally unplayable. I absolutely hate seeing any ZOI die, but I had no choice but to take matters into my own hands and kill them.

But oh my god, they periodically rally back to that exact spot, rolling up in vans. And they are brand-new ZOIs, too! It’s like they’re the Night’s Watch at the Wall in Game of Thrones, acting like it’s their noble, sacred duty. I kept killing them because they just pile up if I don’t do it right away… but I really want to stop this meaningless slaughter now. Plus, there are so many of them now that it’s getting overwhelming to kill them one by one.

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you fix it? Please help me out. Just for the record, I already cleared out my old save files, so I can’t roll back to a point before the bug started.

I have had about a dozen of them stuck at one spawn point because some Zoi was too stupid to move and everyone else spawning in got stuck. I would click one, choose an introduction, the NPC would move away enough to see it’s ID#, then I would remove the NPC from the game, over and over until the dozen of them were dead. What you have is like a roach infestation! Too bad we can’t just hit them with vehicles like before.

One thing that might help is lowering the number of NPCs in the city to its lowest setting.

Was it possible to kill multiple Zois at once with a car? I had no idea! If that were still possible, it would make things so much easier! Now it’d be pretty tough, since hitting even a single Zoi with a vehicle sends you straight to jail automatically—no cops coming to arrest you, no wanted levels, or anything like that. Oh, and thanks for the advice. But the fatal flaw with these Zois is exactly that: even if you reduce the overall population density or lower the number of visitors to commercial lots, they just keep showing up without a care in the world. It’s an absolute disaster.

I have to admit it’s a funny situation, but in all seriousness, it makes the game impossible to play. I’d love it if there was a solution for this.

Thank you for discovering this issue. I’d like to provide a clue—this NPC bug only occurs in new games started from version 0.8.2 onwards. My previous save files from 0.7.x do not have this bug. Please have the developers investigate this.

@RubberDuck37 Build shelters settle people there so they don’t end up on the streets then the game will fix

The homeless NPCs generated by this bug start appearing around 5:30 AM and stay on the streets until 1:30 AM. Starting at 11:30 PM, they change their clothes and get ready to leave. Because there are so many of them, it takes about 2 to 3 hours for all of them to completely clear out.

Chahaya is divided into a left island and a right island. I’ve given up on rotational play on the right island and mostly just play on the left. If a situation arises where I absolutely have to check the right island, I time my gameplay for when the homeless NPCs are leaving. Whenever I save the game, I make absolutely sure to switch to a household on the left island first before saving.

The scary part is just how massive their numbers are; even when I’m playing families on the left island, I experience lag spikes or the game straight-up crashes. If I try to play a family on the right island, the game immediately shuts down. It’s a huge problem that there is genuinely no fix for this.

The reason I’m bringing this up again is that these homeless NPCs originally had only one infinite spawn point, but now another spawn point has appeared. The homeless army has now occupied two locations. The right island has become their territory. Please save me.

This gotta be the funniest bug so far.. :joy:

Oh, for the love of god. The homeless horde has officially invaded Bliss Bay now, not just Chahaya. And this isn’t even the same save file—this is my precious, long-term legacy save! I heard this NPC bug only triggers when you start a brand-new game in version 0.8.2, but apparently, it’s just Russian roulette for any 0.8.2 save file. I literally evacuated to this save like a refugee after Chahaya was completely overrun by the homeless army, but now… I have nowhere left to run.

Devs, I am begging you… Please save us.

Hi everyone, (@here)

We’re very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

If you have save files, please share them through this thread so that we can investigate further. Please refer to the post below on how to send your and please make sure that you send in the whole folder containing the save file, not the individual save file itself. You can simply compress the folder that contains your save file and send it to us.

How to Send User Files to The inZOI Team (Updated)

Thank you.

Many people are talking about this on Facebook and the r/inZOI subreddit, and it seems to be spreading. It appears to be more common in Cahaya, but according to this thread, it’s starting to reach other worlds too.

They are waiting in line for food.

Have same problem, it caused a drop in my FPS and rendering level.

IDK what caused it, but at some point I started experiencing big lags and the game’s visuals became much worse. I found this group of homeless nearby.

Save files included.

Upd: My observations of these homeless (or maybe tourists?):

After a while, all these unfortunate souls change into different clothes and stand in the same place. But at night, when their needs reach critical levels, they go to the nearest minibus and disappear. They start to leave around 00:00 and finish by 01:30.

Then, at 06:00, they respawn at the same location, repeating the cycle.

They are getting ready to go into the sea at the beach. Do you have enough sun loungers?

Seems to be happening with hot dog vendors also. Looks like the filler NPC logic is broken. Every time you load an area, the game fails recognize that there’s already a npc doing the job. So it’s keep spawning them every time you load your save file. Which will eventually crash the game if this is not fixed soon.

There is 10 hot dog vendors in this screenshot and I loaded that save file most likely that amount of time. So everytime you load your save file, it spawns another service NPC. Could be homeless, could be any job role, but if you start loading and saving a lot, you will end up with a save that can’t be recovered and crashes all the time.

I think there are three different problems here.

In my case, I’ve seen two:

Two specific spots near my Zois’ house where NPCs spawn in crowds around 6:00 AM and disperse at night.

With city population settings on “Medium” (or may be with other settings), large crowds of Zois spawn across the city but vanish immediately if set to “Minimum.”

The third problem (yours) – I haven’t experienced it myself.

I’m experiencing the same issue, and even with all NPCs set to the lowest settings there are still so many people, please help me! The game crashes as soon as I load in.
