v0.8.0 Situational Looks – Do the 5 outfit slots actually rotate, or only the Signature Look is used?

@Starwing are you saying that you can confirm your Zois are rotating through the assigned outfits? If they have 3 everyday outfits they would wear different outfits each time they change with this setting turned on?

@EllaEstella @RestlessSloth

Let’s make sure we’re all talking about the same things.

  1. “Situational Looks” refers to the categories of everyday, summer, winter, fitness, swimming, sleep, party and school

  2. “Signature Look” refers to the first outfit in any of these categories unless you mark another one as the “Signature Look”

  3. “Extra Situational Looks” refers to the additional, non-signature situational looks, any extra outfit added to a situation category that is not marked as the signature look.

The post below, as well as the in-game information in the screenshot is that this Autonomy setting for “Situational Looks” controls autonomous changes between the categories, according to the activity/situation. There’s no mention of “Signature Looks” or any extra situational looks. This setting is entirely about autonomously changing between outfit categories like everyday, seasonal, sleepwear, etc.

When I read this, I wondered why some players requested a way to prevent using the Situational Looks autonomously, but it could have something to do with wearing winter clothing indoors. We are able to prevent zois from suffering temperature effects when they don’t have the right situational clothing, so it makes sense that we’d get these options hand-in-hand.

I have the Autonomy setting to use Situation-Based Looks globally (city-wide, family, and personal). I have a weird bug with the autonomous situation based looks that seem specific to the transition between sleepwear and the appropriate outfit for the day when the zoi wakes up.

No, I’m not saying that. I meant that the bug in my game where zois don’t always get dressed when they wake up is not caused by having the setting in the screenshot set to ON.

However, I can confirm that under specific circumstances, I have now witnessed zois wear one of their Extra Situational Looks that was not the Signature Look in 3 save games.

In all three cases, the specific circumstance has been the sleeping to daytime outfit “autonomous” change. The exact thing a separate co-existing bug impacts in my game.

In this screenshot, the woman is wearing her summer outfit #5. She transitioned into the outfit when she woke up, but I had changed her signature sleepwear outfit the night before. While doing that, I also checked an outfit in another category (fitness). When I confirmed my changes, the Fitness #3 outfit was highlighted blue.

I had made the change during a party with a dress code, so she did not change into that fitness outfit I altered (usually the change into the outfit you select while using the Style Yourself option). After the party, she autonomously changed into her summer #5 outfit, so I needed to test what would happen if I sent her to bed. She changed into her signature sleepwear, but when she got up, she wore the summer #5 outfit. She wore it all day until I sent her outside to tend to the garden. (This household doesn’t wear shoes indoors, so going out forces an outfit change.)

@Starwing interesting. But if I understand correctly you cannot tell if there is any other setting to trigger it? And the option is not the reason for it to happen in your game.

In my game so far they always run around in their signature outfit. In both cases: with the option turned on and off. But maybe I need to monitor for a longer time. If I go into styling mode and leave it with an other outfit then the Zoi is wearing it for the day and sometimes even puts it back on after showering, but latest next day it is back to his signature outfit.

I found that it does not rotate. It’s stays on the last outfit selected in CAZ. The situational setting in Autonomy doesn’t work properly either. Before, when the Zoi when to school, it changed to the school outfit before going. If they set foot on the beach they would change into their swimwear, now it’s only when they do a specific activity. Even the NPCs are in their everyday attire on the beach. It needs to be fixed.

I found something relevant in the official known issues list:

“Applying a style preset may randomly change outfits in other categories.”

This might actually explain what you observed. The extra situational look your Zoi wore could have been triggered by this bug rather than the system intentionally rotating through outfits. When you edited the sleepwear signature look, it may have unintentionally affected another category, which is exactly what this known issue describes.

No. The issue mentioned above was reported by one of my friends and I know what it looks like. To my knowledge, this has also been fixed.

I would know this was the problem if there were randomly generated outfits in all other categories, but that’s not the case.

It’s great that you’re checking every angle you can think of! However, I’m pretty sure about two things right now:

  1. I don’t think the bug I experience from time to time with sleepwear to daytime transitions is not related to the issue with the extra Situational Looks not rotating as expectedsd.
  2. That there’s either a bug preventing our zois from randomly switching between their extra outfits as expected, or the devs could have made the switches too infrequent by either giving Signature Looks a far-too-heavy chance of being selected every day, OR there’s a random chance your zoi will select an extra situational look but that happens so rarely we never see it.

Coming back to this topic as the rotation between the signature outfit and the other presets still does not seem to work. At least in my game the Zoi always wears the signature look only.

With the June Update the patch notes said:

As per my understanding this would mean exactly this: the Zoi would randomly rotate the outfit if there is more outfit presets saved for a certain situational look.

Is it working in your games? Is there any setting which needs to be switched on for it to work?

Or is it still bugged even if promoted as a new improvement with the latest Update?

There’s an option above the saved looks you’re supposed to toggle on about randomizing the saved looks

@Noor Thank you so much! I was searching for it all over the place but not in CAZ

Will try it out right away. Thanks again!

@Noor it is working :star_struck: Finally!!! I was really waiting for this to finally be functional. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction :heart_hands:

You’re welcome <3
