[25.06.26] Don't Let The Street Lights Catch You

Hey everyone on the team—I just wanted to give my greetings, but I’m here because I find it completely strange that children, from little ones all the way up to teenagers, seem to have absolutely no regard for time (nor any other consequence options outside of scold). They frankly get to run amok . For instance, today my Zoi, for some reason in her entire little life, thought it was acceptable to be outside at 9:00 PM on a school night—technically well past a generally acceptable point of time that a child should be outside when it’s dark. And I absolutely laughed at myself for a little while because I just thought about the fact that we don’t have a robust sort of parenting system . Generally speaking, there’s no implemented style of parenting outside of just building up good relationships with your children—there’s almost little to nothing outside of scolding that you can do.

That said, I’m very well aware that we just recently got a huge teenage update, and I don’t necessarily anticipate any type of intricate parental system overnight or anything, but it would be nice to know if it was coming and what it would technically look like or how that would operate, as I’m already very impressed with the current development of the game. So I’d absolutely love to see how something as simple as having a curfew—or how you’re punished for breaking it—would affect a child’s relationship with themselves, their parents, and other Zoi’s they come in contact with. Thank you to all who took time to read this.

Yes. This is the right idea, but in order to bring it to life, other game mechanics need to be completed. For example: the mechanics of a police patrol in the city - what’s the point of a curfew if the police aren’t patrolling the city? Or rather, in patrol cars. You don’t even see a policeman on foot in the city that often. As a result: who will catch children and teenagers? Next, it will be necessary to create a whole system of educating young Zois from birth (this is a separate type of relationship and skills), now this simply does not exist. So this system is more global and interconnected than it seems.
