Yes, I have this problem too. I have a zoi family of two, and this behaviour occurs when:
The zois finish eating, the food suddenly disappears. Before 0.9.0, I can store the leftovers in the fridge and eat it for subsequent meals.
This also happens for “Set table for an event” and I have six meals on the table. After they finish eating 2 out of the 6 meals, the other 4 magically disappear from the table.
Sometimes this behaviour occurs when telling them to “Portion and serve” the food. The food just disappears, it’s not even in the bag/inventory.
i noticed this happens when the Zoi performs Tidy Up after finishing eating. As if the Zoi is tidying up the untouched ‘yet to be eaten’ plates alongside with the dirty dishes
as a workaround i make sure to Store in Fridge for the excess plates and then let the Zoi to eat
I had this happen yesterday with a new save. My new couple just moved in and the table auto set with 4 plates, only one Zoi ate and as soon as he finished - all the plates disappeared from the table. He took his own plate and washed it though.
I am also having this issue when I “Portion and Serve”. Out of 6 household members, only 3 get to eat before the other plates disappear. I think the first zoi to eat triggers it when they automatically clean up their plate. It’s like they grab ALL the plates.
The behaviour that the food disappears apparently affects ALL food (that is not being interacted with, regardless of whether it’s the same type or not), once a zoi finishes eating and cleans up their plate.
I had three zois, two of which are eating two different foods (Zoi 1 eats fish & chips and Zoi 2 eats pizza) together on a bar counter. Zoi 3 is making a jug of mango juice. There is a half-eaten donut on another counter/different table. Zoi 3 had just finished making his mango juice and placed it on the counter. But Zoi 1 finished his food and the newly-made jug of mango juice and the donut on a different counter ALL disappeared when Zoi 1 started cleaning up. The only food that remained is the pizza, which Zoi 2 is still happily eating. Hence my comment that the behaviour apparently affects ALL food that is not being currently interacted with.
My current game has 2 young adult zois (Zoi 1 was their friend/visitor), I don’t have a game with child zois yet.
Will try again at a later game if I can replicate that behaviour by scattering food around the house and see if they disappear when a zoi finishes eating and cleaning up.
I had this issue too today. My Zoi baked a plate of pastries. He ate one and when I returned later, the left overs just disappeared. I controlled the Zoi the whole time so he didn’t trash them. They just disappeared while my Zoi took a shower. They were placed on the kitchen counter.
I suspect that the Food disappearance is related to the distance/range of the zoi doing the automatic cleaning up function after eating. In this game, I scattered various kinds of food throughout the house:
I tried it multiple times/reloaded the same save. Zoi 1 (who’s wearing a football jersey) doesn’t clean up (he usually does tho), while Zoi 2 (wearing a dark grey shirt) will clean up regularly.
First video is with Zoi 2 finishing first, sitting away from the counter on the far side of the table. When Zoi 2 finishes, all the shrimp on the table disappears but the candied yams, dumplings, green juice, pizza, and bibimbap all remain.
Second video is with Zoi 2 also finishing first, but with swapped places. Zoi 2 is now sitting nearer the counter/on the nearer side of the table. When Zoi 2 finishes, all the shrimp on the table disappears BUT also the dumplings, which are on the counter located nearest to him (NOT on the table where they are eating). The candied yams, green juice, pizza, and bibimbap all remain.
The third is an inadvertent test from another run. Zoi 1, who usually cleans but doesn’t in this save for some reason, stood up from the table. I made Zoi 1 “Wash the Dishes”, and he only got his plate and the rest of the food did NOT disappear. Then when Zoi 2 finishes his meal, all the other food disappears. The same thing occurs if I make Zoi 1 “Tidy Up”, none of the other food disappears; it disappears only when Zoi 2 finishes his meal.
So this is why I think the food disappearance is related to the after-meal automatic cleaning up function, wherein a certain radius of the action gets cleared of food.
Good job! Yes, it probably is. I also did some research here and found that if you separate one portion before eating, and immediately put the rest in the refrigerator (the distance is not important), then after eating nothing disappears from the refrigerator - which is logical, since the inverters in the game (refrigerator, Zoi, etc.) do not carry a 3d object, but an ordinary one information + the object’s sprite.
Additional info (unfortunately I didn’t have a video)
Even UNCOOKED FOOD gets affected by the bug. My zoi did “Take out Ingredients” (the autonomy threshold on which they will independently eat seems high, are we making Inzoiland obese? ) but because the fridge is full of Cooked Food (mainly because they keep on cooking and eating even though their hunger bars are high), I cancelled the “Take out Ingredients” and made him “Take out” some of the previously stored food. So he put down the Ingredients on the counter, went back to the fridge, and took out the food. He then sat on the counter where the Ingredients were. After he finished eating, the Ingredients/Uncooked Food also disappeared.
My zois are gonna be poor at this rate of wasting money on wasting food
I completely agree. For example, with a cake, if you first take one slice and put it on the table (don’t eat it right away), you can put the rest of the cake in the refrigerator and it won’t disappear.
Yesterday evening with pizza. A guy named Xavier prepares a family-sized pizza and portions it, then he and the others start eating, while one portion stays on the table.
When Xavier, who cooked it, finishes eating, he clears the table and the untouched portion also disappears.
I played today and the bug still persists. Took a leftover pizza from a fridge, placed it on a counter, ate a piece and as soon as he was done with the piece, the whole rest of the leftover pizza disappeared.
Before he finished eating, I clicked on the leftover pizza, so he would put it back into the fridge, but since it disappeared after eating the one slice, he then had the “cannot reach it” reaction. It really is annoying.
