I genuinely hope the development team takes this topic seriously because engagement can skyrocket with a compelling storyline, similar to the experience of reading a captivating book. Unfortunately, in recent life simulation games, this aspect has been neglected, leaving the player with the freedom to create their own experiences, which is commendable. However, the target audience is incredibly diverse, so a well-crafted storyline is never a poor decision.
My idea is to have optional, pre-set background stories for your Zoi to dive into. These aren’t just one-time events; they’re ongoing narratives that are woven into the fabric of the neighborhood and are influenced by your choices.
The Feuding Neighbors: An Example
Imagine moving into a new home, only to discover your two neighbors, the “A-Family” and the “B-Family,” have a long-standing feud. Your Zoi’s arrival is the catalyst that forces a resolution. Here’s how the story could unfold by using existing game mechanics:
- Friendship System: Your Zoi’s friendships would directly impact the story. As you get closer to one family, the other might become more hostile. Do you try to remain neutral, or do you pick a side? The friendships you build would unlock different story branches.
- Karma System: The Karma System could be a key factor. Using good karma to mediate the feud could lead to a peaceful resolution, perhaps a town celebration. Bad karma, on the other hand, might escalate the conflict, leading to pranks, sabotage, and maybe even one of the families being forced to move away.
- Traits and Life Aspirations: Your Zoi’s personal traits would affect their approach. A “Good-Natured” Zoi might naturally try to bring everyone together, while a “Hot-Headed” Zoi might find themselves fueling the drama. Similarly, a Zoi with the “Charity” aspiration could work to mend the conflict, while one with a **“Wealth”**aspiration could use the feud to their own advantage.
These stories would provide a new layer of depth and replayability to the World Maps. They give new players a narrative to follow and offer veteran players a new way to experience their favorite worlds.
What do you think? What kind of pre-made storylines would you love to see, and how do you think they could use the existing systems to create drama and new life?
