NPCs Should Be Storytellers Too — Let Them Shape Our Zoi’s Story
One thing I’d love to see in inZOI is NPCs becoming storytellers too, not just characters who react to the player’s actions.
NPCs already invite us to places like cafés or the library, which is great. But I would love to see them take the first step and create meaningful events that can truly affect our Zoi’s life.
For example:
-
A teen NPC invites our Zoi to prom.
-
An NPC invites our teen Zoi to join their school club.
-
An NPC confesses their feelings to our Zoi.
-
An NPC asks our Zoi to start a relationship.
-
An NPC proposes marriage.
-
An NPC breaks up with our Zoi if they are unhappy in the relationship.
-
An ex contacts our Zoi again after a breakup.
-
An NPC challenges our Zoi because of a rivalry or conflict.
-
An NPC encourages our Zoi to skip school or work.
-
An NPC tries to seduce our Zoi even though they know our Zoi is already in a relationship.
-
An NPC asks our Zoi to join them in something risky or morally questionable.
-
An NPC asks our Zoi to move in together.
The best life simulation stories are the ones we never planned.
I don’t just want NPCs to be more active—I want them to take the first step, create memorable moments, and shape our story, just as we can shape theirs.
That would make every save feel more alive, unpredictable, and unique.
