Romance progression breaks after teenage partners age up at different times

Description:

I found a possible bug with romance progression when two teenage Zois become young adults at different times.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Two Zois become romantic partners while they are both teenagers.
  2. One Zoi ages up to a young adult before the other.
  3. Later, the second Zoi also ages up to a young adult.

Current behavior:

  1. The relationship status still shows them as Romantic Partners.
  2. However, the “Ask to Date” interaction appears even though they are already partners.
  3. Selecting “Ask to Date” does nothing.
  4. Instead, a moodlet appears saying the Zoi has become attracted to someone else.
  5. Both Zois have the Loyal trait.
  6. After that, the game says they cannot ask to date because they are loyal.
  7. Romantic interactions are still available.
  8. However, the “Propose Marriage” interaction never appears.
  9. Neither Zoi has any other romantic partner.

Expected behavior:
After both Zois become young adults, they should be able to continue their existing relationship normally and have access to engagement and marriage interactions.

Additional information:
I have not yet tested whether they can break up, so I cannot confirm if that interaction is also affected.

This issue seems to be triggered specifically when one partner becomes a young adult before the other.

It hasn’t happened to me yet, but I would also like it if two Sims had a relationship when they’re both teens, it would continue even if one of them ages up first.

Then Teen-Young Adult romantic relationships should be legalized. It’s not possible in any other way.

I am having something similar, but I think it is all due to aging from teenagers to young adults, and different or similar times might not matter.

Basically, in my case,

  1. Both Zois were already “True love” when teenagers
  2. Both Zois aged into young adults under different households (time of aging should be the same since both Zois were created and placed into the world together, just different households)

The issue now being,

  1. Both remain as “True love/Sweethearts” under the relationship tab
  2. “Ask them to become Sweethearts” option is somehow available despite already being “True love/Sweethearts”
  3. If no “Devoted” trait, this bug could be easily bypassed by simply asking to become sweethearts again
  4. If “Devoted”, asking to become sweethearts wouldn’t work
  5. Everything else is pretty much the same as yours, all romance options are working, except “Ask to marry” option would never appear since they are yet to become “Sweethearts” according to the game
  6. Only work around is to break up first, then build the relationship back to “Sweethearts”, only then the option to marry becomes available.

I am having this EXACT issue. I had two Zois dating as teenagers, even became true love/sweethearts, but then I decided I was tired of them being teenagers, so I aged them up into young adults.

I was able to romance them again, however, despite being true loves, despite neither of them being with ANYONE else, the one who’s devoted, can’t ask their partner to be their sweetheart. A buff pops up saying “I must’ve lost it for a moment” and that their heart is wavering since they are already in love with someone else, but there IS no one else.

Im not sure what to do at this point. I really dont want to delete them and start this all over again with them as adults, just blank slates, but I fear that’s what I may have to do in order to fix this. Delete them. Put them back in the world again, fresh, and blank. Restart their entire relationship. And unfortunately lose all the progress I previously made.

Same here. Both of my teen zoi’s have the Devoted trait. I was going to try using the cheats and changing the trait but I don’t want it to change their memories by asking them to be sweethearts again.
