[07.23.26] Allow guests to stay overnight

Since @Kjun suggested we come up with ideas for nighttime gameplay, I’ll share a couple of suggestions and would be happy to hear your additions.

If we can offer NPCs to stay the night with us, the reasons could be:

  • A teenage sleepover — telling scary stories, exchanging gossip, playing pranks on each other, building blanket forts and playing Indians and hunters, or just playing house
  • Inviting adult guests for a holiday celebration like Christmas, where it’s planned from the start that they’ll stay overnight. Then each guest would need to be assigned a sleeping spot (though they might not make it there in the end and could fall asleep on the living room couch watching TV after drinking lemonade ), and at night we could take care of the sleeping guests — adjusting their blankets so they wake up in a good mood, for example, or stealing the blanket so the guest wakes up angry and sleep-deprived. Late-night heart-to-heart conversations could strengthen relationships much faster. Some guests might suffer from sleepwalking, just like our sims. And if the celebration went well, guests could later send thank-you gifts to our family
  • A simple “It’s getting late, don’t you want to stay?” offer. The same as the previous point, but without a planned celebration beforehand
  • An offer with sexual undertones — still without starting a family, keeping lovers overnight who would stay for breakfast instead of sneaking away while our sim sleeps

Some guests, aside from sleepwalking, could snore and keep others awake, for example  And if we later want to add such a person to our family — we could send them to the hospital where they’d be cured of snoring, or continue to suffer.

There could be many other small details — I hope other visitors will help me with this? You don’t have to spell everything out with AI, you can just briefly and in bullet points — what would you like to see, with what purpose would you keep guests overnight at your characters’ homes?

P.S. Yes, I know this has been suggested before. That’s exactly why Kjun brought up this option. But since he’s now asking what we’d like to see in this context — I’m suggesting here that you share your wishes in a bit more detail :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :folded_hands:

I wholeheartedly agree with that suggestion and topic. This cannot be mentioned often enough in my opinion. I despise having the partner of my Zoi leave because they cannot sleep over. You cannot even say “goodbye” properly.

Not sure if this is possible, but maybe for a bit of realism, the Zois, who stay over, could bring a small bag or suitcase (depending on how long they stay), so they can bring a change clothes instead of being able to just automatically change.

Or if they spontaneously stay, we can offer our wardrobe.

Either way, full support in this:four_leaf_clover:

Yes to everything except snoring.

Well, I’m just suggesting it as a small detail that could add variety to the gameplay. To make it different from how the normal game process goes.

For example, we invite relatives to celebrate a holiday together — and suddenly such a surprise happens, because of which our Zoi has to go into another room or wake up a guest and send them to sleep somewhere else

I.e., an optional little thing, but certainly not something that happens too often, rather more as an exception. And, as I already said, so that it could be easily adjusted if necessary. Or simply “we’ll never invite that uncle again — he kept everyone up all night”!

@Minthyuyu, @Mazikeen, what would you like your Zois to be able to do at night with guests? Just from personal experience, as people. In my practice, it usually comes down to conversations and dining. I’ve never had it happen that, for example, we’d all gather to play board games all night or watch a movie together. So I’m curious — does this happen with other people, or is it more fantasy taken from movies?

Parties, making music together, playing games like table tennis, etc.

Playing games, talking and eating is something I also do during a sleepover.

If we talk about something more specific like a lover sleepover, it would be nice to cuddle, lie in bed and watch TV, bathing (which is already even in game, which is why I find it weird, that the partner cannot stay in inZOI), driving the partner to work after breakfast in the morning.

As teens/young adults sleepover parties, there are these classics like spin-the-bottle/truth or dare, card games, table tennis, listening to music, pillowfights, maybe even something like dressup, doing the hair of the other.

One of the things that would make nights much more lively would be if NPCs took the initiative themselves. Today, it’s almost always the player who has to propose interactions. I’d like NPCs to be able to spontaneously ask to stay over, depending on their personality, their relationship with our Zoi, or the situation. For example, because the night is already quite advanced, because they’ve had a fight with their family or partner, because they’re temporarily without housing, or simply because they want to spend more time with us. This would give the impression that NPCs have a real life and make their own decisions too.

Sleepover parties could also be developed for children and teenagers, with appropriate activities like chatting until the middle of the night, playing together, or simply sleeping over at a friend’s house. For students, it would be nice to be able to organize parties, but also study nights before an exam, with an impact on their performance or relationships.

For adults, secret romantic relationships could finally have a real place. A lover could suggest spending the night together discreetly, at home when no one is around or in a hotel, in order to develop stories of double lives or infidelity in a more immersive way.

I’d also like certain conversations to be exclusive to the night. Zois could have much more personal discussions, confide in each other, share their fears, dreams, or secrets. These moments would strengthen relationships more than a typical daytime conversation and make bonds more authentic.

For characters with criminal activity, night would be the ideal time to meet discreetly in order to plan a heist, organize a scam, or plan various illegal activities before taking action together. This would give real gameplay interest for players who choose this path.

Finally, if the game ever expands with more natural spaces, I’d very much like to see the possibility of going camping for a night with family or friends, for example in the forest or by a lake, in order to add even more opportunities to experience different moments outside of daily routine.

I’ve been dreaming for a long time that Zoi could watch TV while lying in bed! And maybe even eat popcorn or chips at the same time.

I don’t mind NPCs acting that way, but I have a police NPC in my family who came to catch a thief and stayed in the family forever! You can’t control them, but they eat, sleep, and walk around the house. They even moved with the family :joy:
I know it’s a bug, but let it stay. I’ve gotten used to them, they’re now our personal bodyguard :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I completely support this! We really miss natural spaces like forests. Going on a camping trip with a tent, sitting by a campfire at night, singing songs with a guitar, telling scary stories :skull: or legends of these places, so that we could investigate a complex history. I really liked the quest hints in Kaha, the mystery of the cat temple, the mysterious notes on the island, and so on. It’s a shame, of course, that all these mysteries don’t lead anywhere, but maybe in the forest they could create a real quest for us?
