I noticed a few things when I was shopping for furniture, counters, and appliances about the prices and what you get for the money. Some things like TV’s are self explanatory - bigger TV bigger picture. Some things less so, like stereo equipment:
Ignoring the price difference between the cheapest and the most expensive lights, what do you get from the Modern Chandelier and Libra Chandelier that make them worth 50% more than the Antique Candle Chandelier, which is arguably more impressive (the Libra is pretty elegant though).
That being said, there are some other questionable prices…
Anyway, the point is I’d like to see some kind of Quality metric on things without any Performance, such as Decor or Luxury. Does simply having more expensive things make Zois happier? If so, I’d like to see this represented in some way other than the price tag. If not, well, there’s room for improvement. Basically, more stats would make items more interesting. (also maybe take a peek at the catalogue for any price vs actual value mismatches).
So, regarding the lamps, I actually think it makes sense. There’s a store here that sells them, and it’s crazy how much you can spend on modern lamps. Compared to antique lamps, they can be considerably more expensive.
There are also huge price differences when it comes to speakers. If you want speakers that can reproduce Hi-Res audio, you can end up paying a lot of money for them.
The sofas don’t make sense to me in terms of the price either. Same with the beds. It’s not even a box spring bed, which would definitely be more expensive.
I agree there are quality differences between speakers, I’d just like there to be an in-game representation of this, such as running the audio through a filter to reduce the quality, add static, flatten the EQ a bit, something to make better speakers sound better OR display some kind of quality metric on the object’s stats. Or both.
Lights can vary a lot in quality, materials, and style too. They are, in fact, there to look good. Something you can get at a department store, mass produced cheaply, is surely not as good as something you can get at a proper furniture store, from manufacturers known for quality goods (that you will only find at such a store). In this regard my suggestion still stands. I’d like to see the quality represented statistically on the objects.
I’d really like the speaker feature because I’m extremely audiophile. I literally only bought my car because of the sound system it came with. However, you’d also need to be able to play your own music in the game at the same time. I almost always have the game audio turned off because I can barely stand the music in the game.
And you’re right, the value should be reflected realistically in the game, but who gets to decide what that value is? There would probably be a lot of different opinions depending on the culture as well. I feel like, for example, they seem to think all antiques in Europe have to look like they came straight out of Disneyland. I actually have antique cabinets myself, but they don’t have gold leaf or anything like that. They probably wouldn’t be worth anything in the game.
I agree that especially for the beds/sofas it seems very random to me that some higher quality items are cheaper than lower quality ones.
I do have a suggestion. I would like it, if we could choose the quality of an item ourselves. Let’s take a couch for example.
If there is a couch I like much better designwise, but the quality is just “average”, I would like to be able to either refurbish/improve it or have the option in the catalogue for a more expensive model of the same sofa design with better quality. Because a lot of the “excellent” furniture designs are not to my liking.
Kjun said in a previous brainstorm that the quality of items will impact the Zoi more now, so I don’t want to be “punished” for not liking the excellent sofa design.
I really enjoyed the unexpected option that any piece of furniture can be replaced with 3D-objects. I once accidentally changed a refrigerator into a potted palm tree this way, and it continued to work perfectly - my sims would open an invisible door, a glowing window with the refrigerator’s interior would appear in the middle of the greenery, and then disappear. Otherwise it looked absolutely like a flower pot in the kitchen.
So it would be wonderful if we could change the appearance of a piece of furniture to any other item that’s built into the game in the same way. For example, buy the best sofa, but change its appearance to the cheapest one if it better suits our style, while still having the high stats we want. That would be great!
Not to mention that we really need bunk beds in inZOI! I absolutely love bunk beds, but that’s just speaking for myself. I really miss having them in the game!P
I found another weird pricing. The tiny ice cream poster, that is attached to a wall with a tape costs 250 Mews, while the big photo frame above it costs 10 Mews… Not to mention that you can customize the photo frame while the poster is just… the small poster…
