[09.11.26 ] CanwasTown and Feedback… Please read!

Hi kjun and Devolepment Team,

:cityscape: CanvaTown – My Honest Feedback

Honestly, CanvaTown disappointed me a little. I did not like it as much as I expected.

From what was previously described, I was expecting CanvaTown to be a much more open, large, and empty world. Right now, it feels more like a multiplayer / Roblox-style system, rather than the large world-building system I was hoping for.

:globe_showing_americas: What I Was Hoping CanvaTown Could Be

I was hoping CanvaTown would allow us to build our own cities the way we want, create fully customizable cities, and then optionally add these cities to the inZOI world map, alongside the existing three major cities.

I think this would make CanvaTown much more meaningful and useful.

:money_bag: Development Priorities

I personally think the game’s budget and development resources should not be spent too much on features that may only be used by a small number of players, especially if those features could create major technical and software problems.

inZOI is still in Early Access, and there are already many areas of the game that need improvement.

:video_game: Graphics

Even the current graphics settings have not reached their full potential yet. The Ultra settings do not really feel like Ultra settings right now.

There are still many areas where the graphics quality needs improvement.

:puzzle_piece: Multitasking

The current multitasking system also feels very basic and limited to me.

My suggestion is to study The Sims 4’s multitasking system and use it as an example for inZOI.

I think multitasking is the one thing The Sims 4 did especially well. They integrated multitasking into the game very effectively, and I strongly believe a similar system should be adapted and implemented in inZOI.

:globe_showing_europe_africa: My Biggest Suggestion: Create a World

Personally, I think multiplayer should be left until the very end.

Instead, adding a proper “Create a World” system could make inZOI much more amazing.

We could create our own cities, customize them the way we want, and then optionally add these cities to the inZOI world map as additional cities.

The Sims 3’s “Create a World” system could be a great example to study.

 Please Reconsider the Priorities

So please, as I mentioned, I really hope you can put more of the development budget and resources into these areas instead of prioritizing multiplayer.

I believe focusing on:

:globe_showing_europe_africa: World creation
:cityscape: Custom cities
:puzzle_piece: Multitasking
:video_game: Graphics quality
:gear: Existing technical and software problems

would make many more players happy.

I really love the potential of inZOI, and that is why I want to see the development resources focused on the areas that can make the core game much better.

Please reconsider the priorities for CanvaTown and multiplayer. :white_heart:

Best regards @Kjun

CanwasTown: The Big Disappointment!

I don’t want multiplayer, I’ll never use it. I was hoping CanwasTown would be the solution to the collapse that the game is experiencing right now with its limited cities (with few habitable plots available), where you can’t even live with different families at the same time (in a single saved game). I was expecting CanwasTown to mean interconnecting different cities and expanding the available world with many more created by players themselves that you could freely download from Canvas.

Instead: a multiplayer lobby!

Thanks for this post:four_leaf_clover:

The Canvastown Concept they showcased today shows Kjun’s MMO-Background… which is finding resonance with some players, but I think they will lose quite a bit of dedicated life-sim players with this direction

Good idea, I’d really love to be able to create my own world! … Well, several

Then again, I’ve got nothing against multiplayer, actually I’d be fine with both…

I was quite disappointed by this update; it’s the first time that’s happened with Inzoi. I had expected Canvas Town to be a small city to build from scratch—or close to it. My dream would be a mix of Inzoi and Cities: Skylines, albeit on a smaller scale :).
I didn’t expect it to be tied to multiplayer, which doesn’t interest me. So, from my perspective, it’s a completely useless update as it stands. I hope other players enjoy it, though, and—as you mentioned—that the main game isn’t neglected, and that we get new cities, new lots, and more living space for my generations of Zois.

It looks like Inzoi is going to become Inzoi Online, and I don’t like that :squinting_face_with_tongue:

I’m into single-player games, not multiplayer modes. The more online content there is, the more it feels like we’re drifting away from the original purpose of playing a single-player game

Thank you so much for such a well-organized post to understand :slightly_smiling_face: .

Truth be told, I’ve commented on this in other posts. I think the CanvasTown project is being misunderstood. From the beginning, I understood it as a gateway toward cooperation, and based on the news they’ve given, what I understand is that it’s a separate project that doesn’t negatively impact Inzoi’s progress. So its development doesn’t compromise the early access development.

It’s a testing mode, and it has a lot of potential behind it as AI training. Ideas are proposed that always come and go, because that’s how projects are built — today I add this and tomorrow I remove that. I think players should try to see things more broadly and not limit themselves to a yes or no.

Even though CanvasTown doesn’t give you the opportunity right now to create a European city to move your families to, that doesn’t mean that feature can’t be born in the future. Just like it also doesn’t mean it will limit the game system or compromise the economy and resources of development.

Personally, I think this kind of news should be understood as they present it, and as players we need to learn to separate ideas and concepts.

I think CanvasTown is currently at a testing point, and that later it could become a central pillar both as a gateway to coop or MMO and for the creation of personal cities. I don’t interpret that one thing will eliminate the other or that a path not chosen today will disappear forever.

I think they’re building bricks to create a big house that works for everyone, and sometimes they’ll have to create bricks with shapes that seem strange to us, but with time and testing they’ll end up fitting together.

I’m not in a rush for Inzoi to come out finished, honestly, and even less so at the speed technology is advancing. I think it’s a project that needs time and effort, and I think it’s fine if they want to test alternatives or ideas from another angle. That’s how connections are discovered in the end.

I’d really like the community to feel more hopeful and give them a vote of confidence. Not everything they release or create will stay forever — they’re simply ways of starting things that maybe in 5 years will serve for something else or will have changed.

I just ask for a bit of support and hope. I’m sure Kjun has something very big in mind that they need to figure out how to develop ^^

Hi, maybe I’m missing something in the translations and I’d like to clarify it. I understood that because of this players will stop playing and I’m wondering why? I was able to understand, maybe I’m wrong, that this is optional and not mandatory, so if it doesn’t affect the traditional gameplay method, why is it so negative to the point that players abandon Inzoi?

Sorry, my question is because I think I didn’t understand the translation well

This is what I gathered on Discord and also from some people here. More than one person said that they are leaving this game behind now after this reveal.

Canvastown used to be advertised as a “blank canvas”, where the player can create its own town. They want it to be offline and a place where you can put your own created families in that world and not to be a place where you have an avatar walking around with Roleplay scenarios you choose or playing mini-games with others. Most people expected Multiplayer and Canvastown to be seperate things, but as the latest brainstorm stated, they go together.

I know Kjun said that mode is also playable solo, BUT it still won’t allow us to put our own created neighborhood there, but to control only the avatar alongside with the roleplay scenario. Also, since it is still an online mode, it is mandatory to always be online to just play it, even if I am playing solo.

I’ll put a link here from an older Brainstorm from Kjun. This might shed some light on why people had completely different ideas on what Canvastown is:

To sum it up: The expectation was to have our own city with the gameplay of the current city and completely offline. Not related to any type of online mode. I hope this is more understandable now:four_leaf_clover:

Now I think I actually got it. The idea was that Canvas Town would be a place where you could make your creations for your families? and then the MMO or co-op part was separate and now they’ve mixed them together, right? that’s where the discontent from people who expected to be able to create their cities comes from. Now I understand it better. Thank you so much :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Pretty much, yes. Glad I could explain it a little better:four_leaf_clover:

I think another aspect is also, that people hoped to invite friends to their cities (like Blissbay and Dowon), where they already played in. Like “Look! I have built this business in Blissbay! I want to show it to you! And look! These are my wife and kids!” and then play together in that town, instead of having a completely different mode for that. At least some people wished for this as far as I could see.

All in all, I think this is the reason why people may step back, are disappointed or at least take these news with a grain of salt.

I also expected Canvastown to be different, hence my disappointment. I don’t mean to say that there shouldn’t be any online functions. There are people, who obviously like it.

But the own town creation was a feature people asked for for months so this reveal today was like a “slap in the face” to most players.

@mxmun20 just a small thing: Your OP text is posted twice in the lower part of your post:four_leaf_clover:

I don t understand. What ? @Minthyuyu

Your text is posted two times in your original post. I marked the text where the repetition starts and took a screenshot:

I haven’t seen anyone say that at all on any platform really. Peoples concern is just that they thought canvastown was going to be customizing the world from a blank slate and now they feel like it’s going to take longer to have that and people seem to misunderstand that aspect is still being developed on and not forgotten.

It remains an optional thing to use. I just see people say they’re not going to make use of it and just play the main game is all.

I talked to some people on the German Discord about it and I also spoke to some people privately afterwards and some stated that they will switch games now to a certain other life-sim.

I might have worded it a bit extreme, which was my mistake then and I apologize, but the general mood is more on the negative side after the reveal.
