Does anyone else read what’s on the calendar before you load your game? I think they’re meant to be positive messages, but I find them the opposite.
Can’t we have affirmations or something nice instead of this?
For anyone not sure what I mean, I’m talking about the Calendar to the right of the cat on the desk on the main menu screen before you play. Does anyone know the cat’s name?
From what I’ve learned about inZOI, its philosophy (including the Karma system) is based on Stoicism, and these calendar messages are based on Stoicism too.
There are currently only two messages that show up alternating, see pics below.
(Screenshots of the messages are from the day inZOI was released into early access (March, 28) and today )
The Cat’s name is Psycat, more info in the pic below (found → here)
I think this may be where some of the depth that people have been looking for has been lost. Stoicism is less about enjoying life and more about accepting your fate. Kind of a put up and shut up attitude. This is incongruent with gaming. I also think it’s incongruent with Cahaya. Playing in Cahaya, with the massages, diving with the gorgeous fish, and sunbathing is indulgent, not stoic.
Agree! It would be nice to have more variety of quotes, and some nicer ones even though I think I might get where the team is coming from. Maybe implementing an AI to change it up a bit could be an option for the future?
I’m not disagreeing, but there’s a certain kind of freedom in ignoring who you are in the physical world that wasn’t about accepting fate for me. I’m not here to talk religion, only say that whatever stoicism is, if that’s what it is then you’re right, but I’ve found that being able to believe you have a soul that you can influence the form and fate of through thought and subtle action feels a lot better than simply accepting fate as-is.
That being said, I’m not the lead developer, I’m not a stoicist, and I don’t live in South Korea. If what you’re implying is true, I just hope it doesn’t ruin the game.
