I play rotationally and when I went back to my family they were expecting a child. Is this a bug or is this how the game works? If, so is there a way to turn this off?

This was a big problem for me, and I assume that it’s not actually a bug. I solved it by not having any double beds in the house. No more random pregnancies.
Thanks for the tip and the chuckle! This one reminds me of those old American sit-coms where couples slept in different beds for the same reason 
I’m Happy to help! The whole thing feels a little bit ridiculous, but at least it works. I hope that they will add an option in the future to turn of random pregnancies. My neighbours had more children than there were space for beds.
