I’m surprised you only just found out about this, considering how much you usually dig into information. Personally, I understand Kjun’s reason for making such a full simulation, but I’m not a fan of it.
For me, it would’ve made more sense not to fully simulate all NPCs, but only partially. That way we’d get a larger city, more npcs in the city, better optimization, and better draw distance. I even made a poll in the Q&A where I asked about different NPC simulation options.
There were two parts to the video, each screenshot came from a different one, and they need to be stitched together. Of course, it would’ve been ideal if this were already presented in a structured format, especially in their official response.
Things like your poll are great to share across platforms with cross-links, because they tend to get visually buried by more accessible posts pretty quickly… at least that’s been my experience.
I think there are still people who genuinely want technically sound insights with proof.
Is that the small city feature coming in December? I still don’t understand what im seeing. Is it like splitting the whole city into multiple sections (open neighbourhood / semi open world) or something else?
This is from the AMA Q&A Part 1 on reddit:

‘In December, we also plan to introduce a “Small City,” which, even if it comes with some loading, will allow smoother play on lower-spec PCs. This is another area where your feedback will be really valuable. ‘ /Quote end
So what I think is, this will be a test for the instances and this small town/instance will be accessable from all worlds. Like the other planned instanced buildings/places.
For example the stadium in the pic where also the winterfest place is. Dowon and Bliss Bay might get a stadium shell and when you want to go there and watch a game, there will be a loading screen and then you’re in the stadium. I just hope it won’t be a cutscene like at the ferris wheel o.o
So its similar to active careers in TS4? Career lots completely seperated from any liveable worlds, and accessible from any worlds. But they also mentioned smoother play on lower-spec PCs, so maybe they’ll take out some areas from each cities and make them as seperate instances?
We only know what Kjun told us, so no one knows for sure yet. It’s also still in development. We’ll have to wait and see ![]()
