Other than children and infants, it seems like elders are the most ignored life stage in life simulation games. Wouldn’t it be nice to give our older Zois some love in their twilight years?
Once your Zoi enters the elder stage there can be a pop up asking if you want your elder to stay in the family home or to move to a retirement facility or retirement community. It feels like most people seem to want their elders “out the way”.
An idea I have would be nursing homes or assisted living facilities you can send your elderly Zois to. It can be like a dormitory where Zois can either have their own small apartment or share a room with a roommate. There can be a common room area, dinning area, activity area, courtyard, and medical area. Each city map can have a small nursing home area.
Wealthier Zois could also go to retirement communities. This is similar to 50+ communities in the United States. Zois can have their own house and get around in golf carts similar to the Villages in Florida. There would be amenities such as golf, tennis, pools, restaurants and entrainment in the park and square. It could even be a micro city that would be the size of the residential area in Cahaya. If the Inzoi team can figure out how to have time flow simultaneously with different maps and for Zois relationships not be forgotten between moving maps, then this would be an interesting idea.
If you can’t stand your elderly Zoi being away from their family home you can hire a home health aid NPC. They can pretty much act like a babysitter in terms of cooking and cleaning and entraining your elders.
There can be special parties for this life stage. When your Zoi reaches this life stage they can have a retirement party. Another party can be a wedding anniversary or vow renewal.
Fashion appropriate for the elderly would be important. You can dress them as conservative or eccentric as you wish.
Seeing your Zois walking around with cains and walkers would be cute too. Maybe they can also zip around in mobility scooters or electric wheelchairs as well.
With a DLC focused on the elderly can have a new career as a geriatric nurse or nursing home assistant. You Zoi can take care of Zois in the nursing home by talking to them, checking their medical conditions, helping with activities, feeding them.

Very nice to bring out this point. I had posted very long ago on discord that caring for elders should be a thing in the game which gives opportunity to add to the good karma. Also teaches the right values, thereby shaping the personality of the zois. This also ties in with having large and joint families. All those suggestions got drowned in the unorganized comment system on discord.
I feel seniors should not be moved out. In fact the young children should take care of their elders and those in the community. There should be options in zoi actions to aid and help seniors in their homes as well as in the city.
Old age facilities are certainly nice to have in the game for elders who could be alone. To move out elders from their homes should be an optional feature as you said in the first post.

With my generational playthroughs in the Sims my families sometimes can get really big and comfortably fit into one house anyway. I normally would have aunts and uncles living scattered across the neighborhood. That’s why I came up with the idea of a nursing/assisted living home and a 55+ community.
With the 55+ community can maybe have middle aged Zois who retire early live there. It would add a unique perspective on gameplay. Not having kids or many young people around definitely changes up the vibe of a place.
Just because they’re old and away from their families doesn’t mean they have to live sad or boring lives if you don’t want them to. Imagine your older Zois taking dance classes or lounging on the beach or splashing in the community pool and just having fun in their older years.
Also, it doesn’t mean that once an older Zoi moves to a 55+ community they’re stuck there. Your older Zois can visit their families in the other maps. There just would be a system for Zois under a certain age to move into the map.

I love the idea. And that even family members can go visit them at the residences, or that the elderly can spend a few days with family members if they are invited.

There can even be moodlet such as sadness from missing grandchildren or happiness from texting your adult kids. Plus special interactions for elders such as showing off pictures of their grandkids in their wallet or phone. If they are mean and crotchety they can come up to young folks and scold them or hit them with their cane or purse.
A cute interaction would be an elderly Zoi spying out the window either by themselves or as a couple.
It kinda sucks that elders can’t get part time jobs. It would be nice if they can have limited hours working at grocery store and such. Another thing they can do is volunteer work reading to children.

More interactions between elderly Zois and younger ones can include little old ladies giving kids and preteens candy or money. Other interactions would be kissing babies and pinching children’s cheeks.
More stereotypical “old people” outfits are needed as well. With old men, baggy high waisted pants and suspenders. With old women, floral boxy dresses, glasses with chains and house coat with curlers in their hair at home.
A controversial idea would be to have a heavy negative effect when you’ve collected negative karma throughout your Zoi’s life they might show some memory loss. For example, they might wander about more often or forget actions that you tell them to do. They could walk away from the stove and accidentally set the place on fire. Maybe they can even start to forget friends and family members. Again, this is for Zois who have extremely bad karma.

A choir would also be a fun activity for elders. Maybe they started as a kid in a choir. Then became an idol. And they still want to sing because it’s their passion and it’s fun.

I hope we get something like this in the future, seniors are usually kind of left out in these types of games and it is such a pity!
I would love to see these implemented, as well as some more senior gameplay: from bingo gambling to granny motor gangs to visiting granny’s house, even grandma/grandpa babysitting.
Some of my better memories are those visiting my late grandma’s beach house, where she would give us some special sweets for breakfast and allow us to wander around for hours and hours, or she would sit with us in the living room and tell us all these amazing stories about herself.
Indeed, lets make “tell old times stories” an addition to elders, where kids and adults can sit around grandma or grandpa and listen to them speak for a while!
