I’m experiencing a visual bug with the textures on the underside of the stairs.
As you can see in the attached photo, I applied a brown texture to the stair underside. However, the texture doesn’t appear visually; it just looks blank or untextured.
If I re-apply the color, it looks correct. But as soon as I reload the game (or log back in), the texture resets to default and disappears again.
This happens every time I restart the game. Hope this helps and can be fixed in a future patch!
I have confirmed that this bug does not happen to all stair types.
The stairs I am experiencing this problem with are the ‘Floating Stairs’ and the ‘Short Floating Stairs’.
On these specific stairs, I used the ‘Edit Appearance’ feature to manually add an ‘Underside’ piece, as these models do not have one by default.
As a test, I tried a different stair type, the ‘Wooden Stairs’. This model does have an ‘Underside’ by default. I changed its underside texture without using ‘Edit Appearance’, saved the game, and then reloaded.
Unlike the Floating Stairs, the texture on the ‘Wooden Stairs’ did not visually reset and remained correct after loading.
This suggests the bug is likely related to ‘Undersides’ that are manually added using the ‘Edit Appearance’ feature, rather than stairs that include an underside in their original model. I hope this information helps pinpoint the problem.
Reported the same issue along with another staircase bug in this post: Staircase coloring not fully applied
Problems:
- When coloring staircases, the top step remains unchanged. This only appears to happen when the staircase is attached to a house with a raised foundation. I do not see this issue with staircases placed inside of homes.
- The stair wall color does not persist when leaving build mode and reloading the savefile.

In the screenshot below the staircase should be all black but the color is not applied to the very top step.
In the screenshot below, the staircase wall has a color according to the UI but the staircase wall does not have the color applied. This happens only when reloading a savefile with a colored staircase wall.
