No Auto-Disappearing Cars (Let them Park Anywhere)

Hey, everyone :waving_hand: So, I don’t know if you’ve all seen the Inzoi Reddit AMA Part 1, but one segment addressed the Car Parking/Auto-Disappearing situation.

Here was the Question and Answer:

Q: Can we get parked cars back? Cars don’t park outside now, & that feature was so nice for realism & we were able to interact more with car that way, like open trunk, get in car door we pick, wash car, take car pictures etc. (And it would also be nice if car didn’t disappear right away when we exit it, when we take it into the world- at least could it linger for a minute in case we want to interact with it again?) (And could we get more car colors or car color wheel?) (submitted by u/lightosim)

A: The change happened because cars are now tied individually to each player, which unfortunately removed the parked car feature. I completely understand the need for this, and while it’s not something we can solve quickly, we’ll continue reviewing it and discuss possible solutions with the parking development team.

As for keeping the car in the world a little longer after exiting, adding a simple delay might be possible. But there are concerns about potential issues that could arise if interactions with the car are still happening during that time. It’s something that requires further discussion, even if implemented in a limited form.

Regarding car colors and a color wheel, we’ll also be discussing internally how this could be added. For now, though, please understand that our main priority is improving inZOI’s overall core simulation, so these features may take a bit longer.

If anyone is confused by the first part, when they say, “tied individually to each player,” I believe they are referring to the fact that every (age-appropriate) Zoi in the family can now have a car, rather than having one car per family that only one Zoi can drive. So it seems that because we can have multiple cars in one household, the devs removed the “parked car at residence” feature since that would cause multiple cars to be parked out front.

As for the second part, it seems like the concern about keeping cars in the world is about interactions with the cars if they are constantly out. I cannot tell if they’re referring to Zoi interactions with the cars or to traffic/collision/surrounding car interactions, but it doesn’t seem like they are considering making cars able to be parked permanently in the world like they can be in, for example, GTA.

This is honestly surprising, considering there is a functional garage door feature. However, maybe I am misunderstanding their answer because it may be related to a temporary delay when randomly getting out of the car in general, and not referring to parking features.

Also, to those who don’t know, you can still do those Wash Car, Repair, Open Trunk, etc. interactions with your car.

All you have to do is click the “Mount” button, wait for the car to appear in the world, then cancel the interaction before your Zoi gets in. The car will stay in the world, and you can click it to do all the interactions with the Zoi who owns the car.

I’m also in favor of being able to park the cars anywhere on one’s own property or in parking lots. I find the current feature of having to take it out of one’s pocket rather silly.

Well, I don’t mind being able to spawn the cars from anywhere, but I do wish they’d persist when we want them to! I saw that the team is improving the parking system, but I’m unsure what exactly that means.

Yes please, I wanna park my car everywhere and imagine the possible gameplay by parking wrong, either in a “no-parking” zone or parking for too long without that thing you have to put in the front window, this would make so funny gameplay pleasee :folded_hands:t2::folded_hands:t2::folded_hands:t2:

Or if you parked in a Handicap parking space without a permission sign for it :eyes:

I love these!! I dislike the phone car store because usually you still have to pick up your car from somewhere and it just doesn’t get delivered to you, and especially not spawn to you :sob:

Omggg imagine we can have disabilities in the game and when you have one and have the papers for it, you can actually park there, without getting a fine to pay, I’d also love to see zois in a :woman_in_manual_wheelchair:t2: thing or :woman_with_white_cane:t2: and all!!

You can’t actually put your car in your pocket. I think the same thing. Im happy with the one-click car summoning feature. But of course it shouldn’t disappear once you get out of the car.

Vehicle parking—being able to actually park your car, own multiple cars, choose them, transfer them, and gift them—was also discussed.
This time, we will do our best to get parking into the update. ^^;

This has been mentioned a few times, so let’s hope the car feature will be improved in future.

I know the devs have expressed concern about persistent cars in the world, and I think I can see why - there were issues with too many cars building up in TS3 IIRC, which many of us used a mod to “clean” on a daily basis to prevent lag. That could potentially be a problem here too, though perhaps only player cars should be persistent?

I also think it would be a good compromise to only have cars present where there are dedicated parking spots, which could be placed in build or street edit mode, allowing us to place them outside houses and in carparks. That way the population of parked cars would be controlled (especially if spaces could only be occupied by player’s cars, not npcs’).

Also it’d be sweet if we could drive with a controller WSAD is too primitive

YES WE NEED IT. I live in Cahaya, and there is a road made of dirt, and I need to walk to the normal road to spawn my car :sob::sob:

I want garage to actually have function, and not just for lawnmower as a decoration.
