In case anyone’s had the same issue I did — I found out that if you have the Halloween event active, your Zoi won’t go to work. I lost several workdays because of this and couldn’t pay my debts 
(I work as a reporter).
So, if your character isn’t going to work and you’ve got the Halloween event running, that might be the reason. Hope this helps and saves you the trouble!
