The poll needs a third option, “depends on the context”. The context here is one child giving another a light smack which clearly isn’t hard enough to hurt them (obviously an adult Zoi hitting a child would be a totally different matter). I actually think it’s good that Zoi children have the option to misbehave, rather than always being perfect little angels. That said, I think it should be restricted to the ‘annoyed’ or ‘angry’ mood to stop it happening too often.
I absolutely against it. Come on, there’s a lot of adult people who you can brutally fight with and i would love it, but babies/children for what. They are small and defenseless, they have to be protected
It’s an imaginary child hitting another imaginary child in a fictional setting. Like all the other negative actions, if you don’t want to initiate it, just don’t do it. I haven’t had any of my Zois hit each other or start fights.
It’s a life simulator. Children behave this way, and there are endless fights between them because they often don’t know how to behave, negotiate, or understand each other. I’m speaking as someone with three brothers and three sisters. We often had small fights when we were kids, but we always made up, or at least not right away. I don’t see a problem with that. It’s part of growing up, and the most important thing is that adult characters don’t do that.
I think we should put together a text or get together so that the developers take into account that this could hurt someone, cause injury, or cause some kind of consequences, so that it can be disabled for someone, because they probably don’t take this into account given the early access.
Can you think of any game where this is actually possible to hurt children? In no Sims iteration children could die/get hurt in any way, and pregnant women weren’t allowed to do lots of stuff.
Books I read, movies and series I watch, violence against children is a no go. Not even in 18+ shooters you’re able to kill children. For me that’s a horrible thought.
And this is no same age children having a fight, it’s a helpless baby that gets hit with the fist at it’s head. I have no idea why anyone would think this is a fun idea to add to a game.
I don’t see a problem with this in terms of what’s shown and how it’s currently being implemented. I don’t think it’s funny, but it all depends on how it’s set up and added, if at all. If it’s based on a specific relationship—say, jealousy—it’s punishable, then it adds to what really happens in families between children of this age and older children (not teenagers). This isn’t a newborn baby, but a toddler. Between toddlers who can already crawl, stand up, and make a mess, and those who are already causing mischief and causing chaos in the game, there are moments like this with slightly older children, but parents pick up on it and punish them. If you look at the animation, it’s quite light and, in my opinion, very different from what would be beyond the pale. I’m against what happened when children and schoolchildren were knocked down; that has no place in games at all. I don’t know if I’m right or not, but that’s my opinion at the moment. Otherwise, there are no child deaths or other such violent actions in the game, thank God, but such themes should be optional in any case. Therefore, in my opinion, everything here depends on the context.
I don’t think anything else should appear in games, but I haven’t seen anything from developers that would be beyond the pale, specifically violence related to children (At least I don’t see it specifically in this action and situation)
No one at an age where they could be influenced by this sort of thing is going to be playing this game. Bear in mind that this action is only available for pre-teen children, not teens or adults (and believe me, pre-teen children do not need any encouragement to hit each other. I have two siblings and I can testify to that). And I can think of quite a few games centred around schoolchildren that allow child characters to hurt each other, such as Bully and Rule of Rose.
As for why people would want this in the game: not all players view their characters as extensions of themselves. Some people like to set up a cast of characters and let their lives play out in realistic ways, which includes unpleasant and hurtful interactions as well as positive ones. Or they want to guide their Zois away from the bad things they would do autonomously (recall that the next scene in Kjun’s video shoed the child being scolded by their parent).
It already looks pretty light to me, but a ‘slap’ animation might be better, just to make it absolutely clear the child isn’t doing something that could really hurt the toddler.
Do you think this will cost inZOI it’s 12+ age rating? (Happy First Sunday in Advent btw)
Imo the violence in inZOI is already quite realistic.
The frying pan/fist in the face or running over Zois with a car.
Here are the labels and their description:
PEGI 12
Video games that show violence of a slightly more graphic nature towards fantasy characters or non-realistic violence towards human-like characters would fall in this age category. Sexual innuendo or sexual posturing can be present, while any bad language in this category must be mild.
PEGI 16
This rating is applied once the depiction of violence (or sexual activity) reaches a stage that looks the same as would be expected in real life. The use of bad language in games with a PEGI 16 rating can be more extreme, while the use of tobacco, alcohol or illegal drugs can also be present.
I think the solution with the settings and what was suggested on Discord is the best.
I think this would be less of an issue if there were a separate life stage for preschoolers (ages 4–6), between toddlers and pre-puberty elementary schoolers (a.k.a children). At that age, people are generally more forgiving and can empathize with the light physical teasing preschoolers do as they try to make sense of the world. They test boundaries and explore power dynamics with their younger toddler siblings, and they learn through being corrected by their parents. That said, I understand that older age groups physically teasing toddlers could easily come across as harassment and might be too uncomfortable to be included in the game.
That’s crazy, in my country sims 4 is rated 12 and I think that’s already too high cause sims 4 is really childish and tame
Though compared with inzoi it’s much wilder which is sad because inzoi should be the wilder game especially with that 15+ rating, 15 year olds are no childs anymore lol
