It usually worked by clicking on the book (when the Zoi has it in hand), the “Donate” option opens.
After the update though, it doesn’t work for one of my Zoi, I get the crossed-out icon “you can’t do this”, even though I’ve positioned all types of tiles (the home one, the red one and the blue one).
I haven’t tried it with other Zoi yet.
Here it is, I take screenshots and then forget to report them, it’s just that there are a lot of bugs unfortunately.
No progress is being made outside the mailbox. I know that donations are made that way too. It’s very clear that this is a mistake.
For other donations yes, you need a mailbox, but months ago, not finding the option to donate the book, I found this on Reddit:

You need to have a regular private mailbox "Mailbox"
on your property. Not a “Blue Mailbox” or “Red Mailbox”. Otherwise, the option won’t appear.

Many karma actions require a minimum or maximum karma level before they appear. When I did it, I had maximum karma (excellent). I didn’t try with lower levels, so I don’t know if it’s a requirement or not, but it might be.

action must be performed on a book taken from a shelf or book collection. To do this, click on a shelf and select "Read Book"
. The type of book doesn’t seem to matter, but I know for sure that novels work. Once your Zoi has retrieved the book, pause the game and cancel the reading action. Then you can click on a table and “Place” the book there, or you can click directly on the book in your Zoi’s hands and choose “Make a Donation”.

Once you’ve donated a book, there’s a 48-hour (2 days) waiting period before you can donate another book. The “Make a Donation” option will be disabled until then. I found it helpful to place a book on a table so I could click on it periodically to check if the option was available again. Or you can just remember the day/time of your last donation and add 48 hours.
However, with this Zoi she won’t let me do it anymore. Now I’ll open the game and check with another Zoi as well.
The solutions aren’t working. And this restriction absolutely needs to be lifted.
I checked in various families, with new and old saves and new ones and you’re right, the option no longer appears for anyone, only for this Zoi, but she can’t complete it

@AR_Luna @AR_Noah Moreover this is a very strict limitation. Zoi may not live long enough to complete it. This restriction absolutely must be lifted. I personally wouldn’t bother donating 15 books in 30 days.

My Zoi cannot complete the Philanthropist aspiration because the book donation cannot be done.
Until I don’t remember which update it was possible, in fact she had completed it twice.
For some strange reason, the action of donating by clicking on the book is still present for her, but it cannot be completed. Clicking on the mailboxes there is no option related to the book.

We’ve updated the interaction conditions with v0.6.0 update so that when any of the four mailbox types are placed nearby, the “Make a Donation” interaction will appear upon clicking a book.
Please note that donating a book is currently limited to once per in-game day.
