[12.23.25] Brainstorm: Freely Drawing, Expanding & Defining Plots

(with Cost Balancing, Automatic World Cleanup & Player Frustration)

InZOI has a strong and creative building system, but the current fixed, very small, and square plots significantly limit the ability to realize larger ideas and visions.

Idea / Proposal:

  • Players should be able to draw buildable land freely, similar to how the pool build tool works.

  • Instead of rigid square plots, allow organic, freely shaped areas.

  • Players should be able to personally decide whether a drawn area is:

    • a residential plot

    • a commercial plot

    • a mixed-use plot
and be able to change this later if needed.

  • Residential and commercial plots should be expandable at any time, exactly as players need:

    • redraw or extend plot boundaries

    • adapt plots to city growth, neighboring areas, or progression

  • Automatic world cleanup when expanding plots:

    • Existing world decoration objects (trees, bushes, small props, etc.) are automatically removed or relocated

    • This instantly creates a clear, usable building area without manual cleanup

Cost & Balancing System (key point):

  • The more land a player draws or expands, the higher the cost, for both residential and commercial plots.

  • Costs could scale based on:

    • total surface area

    • location (city center, outskirts, industrial zones, etc.)

    • plot type (residential, commercial, mixed-use)

  • This keeps the system fair, strategic, and economically meaningful while preserving creative freedom.

Personal note (why this matters):

I’m honestly frustrated by how small the current buildable areas are.
Often, you have a clear idea or vision in your head—but you can’t execute it, not because of missing creativity, but simply because the plot is too small.

I also believe I’m not the only one feeling this way, and that many players face the same limitation.

What this system would enable:

  • Organic, realistic city layouts instead of grid-locked cities

  • Natural growth of residential and business districts

  • Less frustration while building

  • High creative freedom with proper balancing

  • Long-term motivation through meaningful planning decisions

This feature would significantly enhance the building system and fits very well with InZoi’s open, creative vision.

Looking forward to your thoughts, Kjun.
