Currently, whenever new buildings or changes are made to the maps and we load an existing game, we get a pop-up about needing to update our city for stability, etc. Updating the city makes everything but the current home lot revert to its default state if it isn’t one of the new things.
I wish that only the properties that have been altered will change, rather than the entire city. If you customized the Central Market in Cahaya, and the update needed to update the city to add the holiday festival items to the main park, and Christmas tree and decorations to the resort, then only those properties should’ve changed and the Central Market should’ve been untouched.
Please work on it so that when a city needs updating:
- Only the updated or added properties in the city should change (the park and the resort in my example above)
- A list of properties that will be changed or added is shown with the pop-up about updating the city, so we know exactly what to expect
I’m guessing that when a calendar system for holidays and special events is added to the game, the central parks will need to update with the change of the seasons, and that shouldn’t impact any other properties in the cities.
Preferably, the park would update itself in the background at midnight when the calendar changes.
It would be such a pain if every week, our entire city had to be updated and all customizations would need to be done again (like adding a sales table to a public lot) every week.
In the past, I would’ve assumed the dev team would obviously only update the necessary park for seasonal events, but after the December 23, 2025 update, I don’t trust the team to understand what we’re saying when we say we want something like seasonal holidays and festivals at the central park, and I don’t want them to assume we mean we want all customizations done to the city to be wiped out every week.
Sorry for laughing, but at this point, it’s clear they can make a serious misunderstanding like that. (Just look at Style and Makeup Presets in the December 23 update for example.)
