Cafeteria Activity: not resuming cooking operations

One of my Sims opened a café business in the free shop and hired an employee.

Sometimes one of the two wants to cook, but the action gets interrupted for various reasons, or one of them starts the action while the other is using the oven. In these cases, they put the dough and ingredients on the table and then don’t resume, they throw it away :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

This shouldn’t happen

The same thing happens when cooking in your own home and something interrupts (usually a toddler or newborn)

I get the same thing in my zoi’s cafe. My workaround is to have them “continue” the action, whether it’s baking, making coffee, etc. Once completed, they’ll put the food or drink down. I get them to put the item in their bag, then make them take it out. At this point, while the item is in their hand, I pause the game and click on the display case for the food and choose to put it in the case for sale. The zoi will then put the item in the display case, and the sale ticket will pop up.

It sounds like a faff, but it’s pretty quick once you get used to the timing of how the zois will abandon things.

Yes, this happens inside the house too :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Here it’s not even a baby’s fault, the sequence goes like this: the mother is cooking, the teenage son comes home starving and heads to the fridge and pulls out some ingredients. But the counter is occupied so he puts the ingredients on the table. Then he takes the fried spaghetti but doesn’t even eat those and decides to make himself a salad. What a hassle to get them to have dinner!

Moreover, in the second screenshot, the father cooks inside the coffee machine , then goes for a walk upstairs with the dough in his hand and I have to force him to continue before he throws it away.

I really wish that when they start an action they would see it through unless instructed otherwise. And this habit they have of throwing away everything they shouldn’t but leaving dirty diapers and bottles lying around!
