Mods and the gray hair bug

So it seems that there’s a bug where, when using mods, hair will turn dark and not reflect lighter colors. I thought it was just mods, specifically hair ones, but I’ve narrowed it down.

https://youtu.be/XG2otACCQa0 this video cites clothing mods as the issue. Which I found to be true for me aswell. However, I would like to add that it’s not all clothes. Some don’t cause the bug.

So really, my question is, what could be causing this bug when it comes to making clothing? I have yet to dabble in making mods myself, and there are some cute items I’d love to use (or make) had it not been for the bug.

It’s not just the clothing, I had this bug after I tried to recolor a cushion with the mod kit, when I took it out of the game, the hair color was normal again.

I’m still having this issue after contacting InZOI support team. There might be some things that causing this issue to happen:

  1. Incorrect texture naming - check out InZOI ModKit Documentation for more information.
  2. Incorrect custom TGA base texture with Alpha Channel.

If You downloaded a mod from CurseForge and the color is darker that it should be - this is an issue with a mod itself. Try to figure out which one causing this issue to appear.

I should clarify- I know it’s specific to certain mods. This is a fairly new game so I don’t expect everyone to understand how to make things. This is still very helpful, thank you for the insight.

Thank you for the input. I haven’t messed with much outside of clothing mods, so this is helpful.

I found out that this problem appears ONLY in Character Studio. Here’s a screenshot from Life mode - changing appearance via mirror (at least in my game session: save file create date - 28.03.2025). So there’s might be a global problem with modding clothes (seems like there’s an issue with Master material in ModKit - Lightning or smth).

This bug occurs when the modder leaves too many irrelevant assets in their mod project. I have been able to fix all my downloaded mods by looking through each mod_manifest file in every project using Notepad, and removing all asset lines that seem irrelevant to the project, then saving.

I’ve been led to believe that modders who create New Empty Projects will not create this bug with their mod, as it does not add these irrelevant assets.

Thank you for the input. I’m glad we’re demystifying this and figuring it out.

one more thing: To anyone seeing this, please let’s do our best to let mod creators know. I’m sure nobody intended for their mods to have issues, and I made this post hoping we could help each other figure this out.
