I was searching through canvas lately and was very happy to see that the city and address search options have been added as well as the price option. But I am really wondering: for some lots there are nearly no builds yet and checking through the exisiting ones it seems to be only houses built recently in the last 1-2 months. Checked also for lots where I know for sure as I have uploaded lots myself some time ago, but these are not there. And newly uploaded are there.
Is it that we only can find newly built lots with the new search option and the 10 months of people building houses in the past are locked out when using this option? Or am I missing something?
Thinking to post a bug if this is the same for you. Shoud be possible to add this to the previously build houses as well
Nevertheless the game seems to very cleary identify if a house is built exactly on this lot as in this case you can directly install it and otherwise you have to place it yourself. I was hoping the the Inzoi team is able to extract this information also from the previously built lots as the game seems to recognize, so this information seems to be somewhere even though not visible in the preset. Or am I wrong?
I think the game identifies the size of the lots. By the way, I just tried to test this. I tried to put a building for Tadu Luhur in Cahaya to another lot of the same size (Sari Kecil). And it turns out it doesn’t fit completely. They’re all marked as 25m x 20m, but they’re actually different
Exactly! I noticed this already a while ago as I was always checking the lot sizes when downloading before we had the address search option. And as you say: even if it is the same size only the lots really built on this specific lot are installed correctly and others you have to place yourself. This is why I think that there is some data somewhere behind which they would just need to extract for the old lots in canvas in order for them to show up correctly.
This really made me wonder when I read it. So far, I’ve only uploaded builds from the Build Studio so people could put the building on any lot that size. An S2 lot usually has extra space that can be used for a yard, but not all S2 lots are the same. That’s true for the larger lots as well. I have a house that I plan to upload soon that is the first of 3 built on a property.
What I wonder is do you think it’s a better experience to download a property created for (built on) a specific property rather than place a Build Studio creation? You don’t need to speak for everyone. I’m curious about your preference.
From my point of view it is definitely better to download a lot which is built for this property. The reasons are:
you can directly install it from the houses menue, no need to move around and try to get it fit on the lot without deleting something or not knowing which side is front and which is back.
Houses built on other properties or build studio never fit perfectly in the sense that these do not take into account the specific surroundings of the current lot. Thus the entrance might be off or in the back there might be some visual overlapping with trees next to the current lot or the decorations outside fit not perfectly for the current lot etc. So you mostly will need to adjust it a bit to look great.
after the changes to canvas people will not find your builds as easy if this is built in build studio. First because the new search option is just much more comfortable when you search for a specific property and this why it is really a pity that the older builds are not yet findable this way. Second it is harder to figure out for people if your build studio lot would really fit sizewise on their current lot.
As you said: this must not be true for everyone but this is my view.
@Starwing just came to my mind: actually you could even do multiple uploads for multiple properties if you build in build studio. You could place the finished property on the fitting lots in the game, check and adjust slightly yourself and upload these one by one for each fitting lot. That way the people would always find your lot when searching for one of the relevant lot addresses.
At first, I thought people would certainly prefer to put the house where they want on a lot that fits, but playing in Cahaya changed my habits. I built three properties on a lot (only one uploaded so far). There’s an apartment I’m building for Dowon, and I’m working in the Build Studio until it’s time to actually upload it.
I also have a house I used in my first video series, and during the series, I finished up the backyard with a pool and and beautiful landscaping, so I will definitely upload it with the yard. It’s an S3 house but the property had a lot of room for the backyard.
All our current cities have a unique overall style, and not all builders try to design the house for the city (such as building an ultramodern mansion in the heart of Cahaya) but many do. And if someone wants an ultramodern mansion in the middle of Cahaya, I certainly won’t stop them.
I’m grateful for the option to search by properties. We can still search for things from Build Studio on the Canvas site, so I might upload a Build Studio version of some things alongside the version with finished yard, etc. on a specific property.
Thanks again for your insight.
Of course, I have absolutely no clue what will happen when it comes to the upcoming Canvastown. (I hope we can name our town! I want it to have a realistic-sounding name.) One hope I have for the Canvastown feature is that all lots we can place down will have a standard size. If we’re building a city of our own and can place the lots ourselves (from what I understand of the feature anyhow, I could be wrong about that ability), then property names wouldn’t be the same.
That’s me realizing that there could be another major change when that feature is released.
I think you´re right. Uploading both versions 1) build studio for maximum flexibility and 2) on specific lot adjusted to look good with the surroundings of this lot is probably the best solution.
For myself I always like to build on the lot as this gives me the vibe of the place and the surrounding houses which helps me to fit the house better into the existing world without it looking misplaced. That way I am more able to get the house to blend in with the neighbourhood.
Regarding Canvastown: this will be interesting and very likely it will change again how we search and upload stuff. And it would be really good if the lots would have a standard size or at least let´s say 2-3 standard sizes (small, medium, big). That way people could mix and match their own Canvastown together without needing to build everything from scratch if they don´t want to.
Just curious: what kind of video series have you done @Starwing ?
I look forward to building a lot more (I’ve always loved building in games and inZOI has great building tools), but I’m enjoying playing, too! I also want to build an entire town to share, but I want to build homes, apartments, and businesses for other people to add to their towns.
I did a Let’s Play series about a group of 4 roommates living in Bliss Bay. Now, I’m working on a family Let’s Play. It is a challenge I set up for the series, and it seems I’ll be finishing the challenge around the time the firstborn reaches Young Adult stage. When I complete this series, I’m going to do part 2 of the first series. In it, the roommates are living apart in different cities but will have cross-over episodes for things like weddings, etc. When their stories are complete, I’ll play the next generation of my current family let’s play.
