Before the Birthday update it was possible to put baked goods on sale as a whole or to portion these. Now after the patch even if you select the option “Place Market Display” the Zoi will portion the baked goods. Before it only happened if you selected the “Portion and Display” Option. Does this mean that we cannot sell whole cakes anymore?

  • I don’t think this is intended thus why I am posting a bug. Please clarify.

  • See screenshot: even with the option marked in red the Zoi puts the baked goods on sale per portion like seen in the market stands in the screenshot.

@EllaEstella Yes, I also noticed this but I thought it was only the birthday cake because that was all I tried to place with regards to baked goods in my flower shop. So, all baked goods are currently doing this?

I tried 3 other ones besides the birthday cake and it was the same… It is a little annoying as I liked the idea of selling both: whole cakes for takeaway and portioned for eating in the shop. Now this is not possible anymore.

It seems that this is also true for cooked goods as well.

I still think this must be a bug, otherwise why would we still have both options on the market stand when putting it up for sale?

I agree - before I was selling whole cakes in my bakery so this must be a bug..!!

The same thing is happening to me! It cut daily earnings from 2000 to 2300 to 200 to 230 per day! I was selling whole cakes, plates of donuts, etc. I wasn’t even able to portion and display before, but now I can’t sell whole items. There’s not much work for anyone to do at the cafe if they can only cook two cakes and spend time working on coffee until all pieces are sold.

I don’t see any visitors appreciating art like they used to. Also, the place is very empty! It used to be quite full of guests and that was fun. Now there’s a small number that come and stay all day, it seems. (But I have only played 2 full days).

The biggest problems with this bug is it slashes profits so extremely, and it also leaves employees with nothing to do unless they want to keep baking and replacing the already portioned pieces of cake…

The store has a refrigerated display case for cakes. Have you tried putting them in it? This might be a feature of the furniture.

Same here. Zois automatically slice everything before putting it on display. The only way I managed to avoid it was going in to build mode and putting the whole cake in the display from there. I hope they fix that interaction so it can go back to work normally as it did!

That’s a good thought for sure, but I also put out different displays. I had some shelves and a table to see if that would at least help keep the employees busy.

It doesn’t matter what display is used, the baked goods (even cookies) are portioned and placed on sale individually.

For now, I was able to lay off the skilled employees, hire family members, and teach them skills while waiting for customers to make more work for me.

At least this way, I ought to earn more because I’m not paying the skilled employees. I used to earn a lot while still paying their fair wages, though.

I hope it’ll be fixed soon. :folded_hands:

I forgot to add that my business owner is unable to promote the business by drawing attention himself with the promote option.

Are you able to? @EllaEstella @VIBES @itsmechiie7

@anibea528 I was using the refrigerated display but the whole cake was taken from inventory and placed in served pieces

@Starwing Yes, I was able to promote several times in my flower shop.

Then this is indeed a problem. I recently started a business and I’m still figuring out the features. That’s why I didn’t understand why my earnings dropped so much after the update. On the contrary, it seemed more profitable to me to divide one dish into several portions

@Starwing will Test regarding the promote action as soon as possible. Not able to play as much as I would like to at the moment…

@anibea528 I am also seeing a big drop in profit. Before the patch I was earning quite good money with my bakery business, now it is partly even losing money after a business day.

I had my business owner hire family members and they can promote while at the business.

I noticed that my cake slices are pulling very high prices. I have no idea if that’s normal or not. My chocolate cake slices are fetching 100 mew each with a 3 star cafe and a level 10 baker.

Is that normal, or something connected with this bug?

What is the quality of the slices? I noticed that at quality excellent you sell the 1st anniversary cake slice for 55 Mew. I think this is more than before the update. If I remember correctly the sell price was always the value of the item at good and you did not get more if the item was excellent and not less if it was bad. It just had an implication on the customer satisfaction. But now it seems the selling price is depending on quality. Maybe your slice is perfect? Could be with a level 10 baker…

Ah, and the star level might play a role as well, not sure though…

The stars definitely make a difference because the price goes up every time. When I had a 2 star cafe and sold whole cakes (basic cake) for 148 mew each if it was less than Excellent. Excellent and Perfect definitely sold for more, but I don’t remember. I’d have to look back in my videos to see.

Business didn’t do well when I first reached 3 stars because it was being haunted, but now the ghosts are gone.

The chocolate cake slices are perfect and priced at 108 mew each. Next business day, I need to test the basic cake and see how they are priced when my level 10 baker makes them. He will probably make it perfect, and then I can judge the situation more accurately.

I’m curious to find out if the slices are being priced higher than they should as part of this forced-portioning bug, or if that’s what they should cost. I was unable to portion and display items before the update.

What is the star level of your business?

Sorry, which refrigerator for displaying cakes are you talking about—the display case shown in the screenshot at the top, or did you add something new for the business? It’s just that I haven’t opened my save with the business bakery yet (I need to rebuild everything) after the update, all the buildings flew away ((

No, there’s another one. I saw it in the store in the business section. Unfortunately, I can’t add a screenshot because I can’t launch the game right now. It’s longer and on the item card it’s depicted with cakes inside. The description says it’s a display case for selling cakes. I also saw separate display cases for selling baked goods.

@anibea528 do you mean this one?

This is only decoration unfortunately and cannot be used for selling. Or is there even another one somewhere?

@Starwing I had no chance to play for some time thus only now coming back on this. I started a new business after the update, so it now only reached star level 2. But I did some testing / notes on how the prices develop. And yes the star level matters and increases the price for the same quality item with each star level.

The prices definitely have changed and are less vs. previously for the whole cake / dish. So I assume we are really getting the expected price per portion. The unfortunate part is that we cannot make as much money per purchase anymore as whole dishes were bringing much more profit per sale.

As for the price increase per star level there seems to be an increase by 20-25% from Star level 0 to Star level 1, then 8-13% increase from Star level 1 to Star level 2. The % increase seems to vary by product and also is not the same for each Star level up. Still outstanding to test how this increases for Star Level 2 and above.

No, I meant a different one, it’s longer. Sorry, I can’t take a screenshot :downcast_face_with_sweat: The product card name directly states that it’s a cake display case. It might not be in the business products section, but in the city decorations category. I remember there were many different shelves for a store, a bakery, a clothing store.
