Were the lights usable by kids before? Haven’t been using those portable lights at all, so I wouldn’t know

Most likely, the script is broken here. Or the address of the object request. To put it simply: Here you need to try another Zoi. If another Zoi’s lights are working, then your child is broken.
If no one can interact with the lamps, it means that the lamp control script itself is broken. Most likely, there is only one script for all the lamps in the game and there is no way to fix it without scripting Modkit or from the developers.
No child can interact with the lights. Should i try 100 times to prove it?
Only children or adults too? If adults can interact, then this is not a mistake, but a flaw on the part of the developers. In simple words, the children were simply not given the opportunity to interact with it programmatically.
My friend this only happens in children. Try it if you want and verify the result. 
Adults can use it normally.

So this is what I wrote. The executing script of the items itself is broken. This is a technical malfunction.
It is clear that an update is needed.

I haven’t been using the portable lights at all, so I can’t say anything about the mechanic of it. From the info you’ve gathered throughout this thread, I’d agree with @NIck_Olay about the issue. It seems the executing script of the portable lights appears to be broken Hope this gets fixed soon 
@regnbueabyss They showed interest in the topic. This means that the number of people realizing the mistake is increasing.

Why hasn’t this bug been solved after 15 days?
My young adult zoi was able to purchase a light on Pocketmarket and get it in her bag simply by opening up the package, but it completely ignores the action of taking it out. I can even “turn on” the light while it is in the bag (it changes the action to turn off once I do this and then turn on when I do it again) but any attempt to use it is ignored (startle, take a look around).
The same thing is happening to me. It’s visible in the videos i’ve sent.
