inZOI Should Be About Living, Not Just Existing

What I am looking for in inZOI is not just a simulator where a Zoi eats, works, and sleeps. I am looking for a world where each character can build a unique story through gameplay and where there are many different ways to live.

I would love to see deeper gameplay not only in careers, but also in personal life, family life, relationships, hobbies, ambitions, and daily activities. A Zoi’s life should feel rich and meaningful both inside and outside of work.

For example, some players may want to focus on building a successful career, while others may want to raise a large family, become famous, travel the world, start a business, become involved in politics, create art, or simply enjoy a peaceful life. All of these paths should feel rewarding and offer unique experiences.

The more activities, choices, and life paths available, the more players can create their own stories. Every Zoi should be able to live a different life, shaped by their personality, relationships, ambitions, successes, and failures.

This is what gives a life simulation game long-term replayability. Players should always feel that there is something new to do, a new goal to pursue, or a new story waiting to unfold. The world should feel alive, dynamic, and full of possibilities, allowing every save file to become a completely unique experience.

And this idea fits very well with the concept of “living any life,” allowing some players to experience an ordinary life, while others live as celebrities, tycoons, politicians, or members of modern royalty.

What I am looking for in inZOI is not just a simulator where a Zoi eats, works, and sleeps. I am looking for a world where each character can build a unique story through gameplay and where there are many different paths to live.

For example, if your Zoi decides to become a doctor, it would not simply be a matter of clicking “go to work.” Within the medical career, there could be multiple specializations:

  • Surgeon
  • Pediatrician
  • Cardiologist
  • Psychiatrist
  • Emergency Doctor
  • Medical Researcher
  • Hospital Director

Each specialization would offer different challenges, opportunities, and stories.

The same could apply to other careers:

  • Lawyer → criminal law, corporate law, family law, human rights.
  • Artist → singer, actor, painter, influencer.
  • Entrepreneur → restaurant owner, fashion brand owner, technology company founder, real estate developer.
  • Politician → council member, mayor, minister, national leader.

This creates depth because a career stops being just a job and becomes part of a Zoi’s identity.

What I find most interesting about these ideas is that they all share the same goal: creating stories through simulation.

Instead of the game saying:

“Now this event happens.”

The game creates systems, and events emerge naturally from them.

For example:

A doctor meets a journalist.
The journalist discovers a scandal at the hospital.
The doctor becomes torn between protecting colleagues and telling the truth.
Their reputation changes.
Their family reacts.
Their career takes a different direction.

None of these situations needed to be manually written by the developers. They emerged from the player’s choices, relationships, and the systems of the game.

This is exactly the kind of depth that keeps a life simulation game interesting for hundreds or even thousands of hours, because every save tells a different story. The more areas of life the game simulates — careers, family, personality, reputation, relationships, ambitions, and emotions — the more unique stories players can create on their own.

Professional Reputation System

Reputation would not simply be a number.

A surgeon could be known as:

  • A respected genius

  • An arrogant doctor

  • An innovative specialist

  • A controversial figure

Possible consequences:

  • Invitations to conferences

  • TV interviews

  • Famous patients

  • Lawsuits and legal challenges

  • Jealousy from colleagues

Media and Scandal System

Newspapers, blogs, and social media would react to the actions of Zois.

Examples:

  • A politician involved in corruption.

  • A celebrity caught cheating on their partner.

  • A business owner accused of exploitation.

  • A doctor who saves the life of a famous person.

This would create public stories that directly affect private lives.

Evolving Personality System

Instead of having fixed personality traits, Zois could change over time.

A shy Zoi might become:

  • A charismatic leader

  • A confident artist

  • A popular politician

Or the opposite:

  • Become bitter after repeated failures.

  • Develop anxiety after a traumatic event.

  • Lose confidence after a divorce.

Personality would be shaped by experiences rather than remaining static forever.

Realistic Relationship Chemistry

Relationships would be more than just “friendship” or “romance.”

Each relationship could include:

  • Admiration

  • Trust

  • Attraction

  • Respect

  • Jealousy

  • Emotional dependency

For example:

Two Zois may love each other but not trust each other.

This would create far more interesting and realistic drama.

Family Dynasties

The player would not only control a single generation.

Over the years:

  • Businesses could be inherited by children.

  • Houses could become family estates.

  • Rivalries could continue across generations.

  • Family secrets could be passed down.

Imagine building a wealthy family legacy over 100 years of gameplay.

Deep Education System

Instead of simply “going to school,” Zois could choose different educational paths:

  • Medicine

  • Engineering

  • Law

  • Arts

  • Business

Each field would open different opportunities, careers, and social circles.

Dynamic Politics

Politics would be more than just another career.

Zois could:

  • Create political parties

  • Run campaigns

  • Debate policies

  • Gain public support or face public rejection

Political decisions could influence the entire city.

Example:

A mayor invests heavily in public parks.

Results:

  • More leisure opportunities

  • Lower crime rates

  • Higher taxes

Real Businesses

Businesses would be more than just sources of income.

Restaurant owner:

  • Hire employees

  • Design the menu

  • Set prices

  • Manage reviews and reputation

Technology company founder:

  • Launch products

  • Compete with rivals

  • Hire researchers and developers

Living Neighborhoods

Neighborhoods would evolve over time.

  • Poor districts could prosper.

  • Wealthy areas could decline.

  • New businesses could emerge.

  • Residents could shape local culture and identity.

The world would feel truly alive.

Dreams and Ambitions

Every Zoi would have personal goals and ambitions.

Examples:

  • Become famous

  • Find true love

  • Build a financial empire

  • Raise a large family

  • Change the world

When an ambition fails, new stories and opportunities would emerge.

Consequence System

The same choice would never guarantee the same outcome.

A journalist could:

  • Expose corruption and become a hero.

  • Lose their job.

  • Receive threats.

  • Become a celebrity.

The interesting part is not the choice itself.

The interesting part is that players never know exactly where that choice will lead their story.

A World That Continues Without the Player

Perhaps the most important idea of all.

Even without player intervention:

  • People get married.

  • Businesses close.

  • Politicians rise to power.

  • Celebrities emerge.

  • Scandals happen.

  • New families are formed.

As a result, every inZOI save file becomes a unique simulation where the player is not the center of the universe, but simply one of many stories unfolding at the same time.

This version is written in a style that fits well for posting on the inZOI Discord, Steam discussions, Reddit, or official feedback forums.

Modern Royalty:

Modern Royalty and Noble Families

Another interesting life path would be the possibility of modern royalty, noble families, and influential dynasties.

A Zoi could be born into a royal or noble family, or build a family legacy that eventually becomes one of the most influential households in the world.

This could include:

  • Princes and princesses

  • Dukes and duchesses

  • Heirs to powerful families

  • Influential social elites

  • Heads of royal households

Royal life would come with unique responsibilities and opportunities:

  • Public appearances

  • Charity events

  • Diplomatic meetings

  • Family expectations

  • Reputation management

  • Media attention

Players could choose different paths:

  • Follow tradition and fulfill royal duties.

  • Modernize the institution and gain public support.

  • Live a private life away from the spotlight.

  • Become involved in politics, business, or philanthropy.

  • Create scandals that affect the family’s reputation.

The media and public would react to the actions of royal Zois, creating unique stories and challenges.

For example:

A young princess falls in love with an ordinary citizen.

A prince decides to give up his royal status to pursue a different life.

A royal family becomes divided over political issues.

A beloved monarch strengthens national unity through leadership and public service.

These stories would emerge naturally from the game’s systems, relationships, ambitions, and choices.

This would add another unique way to experience life in inZOI and create entirely different stories from those of ordinary citizens.

A World That Continues Without the Player

Perhaps the most important idea.

Even without player intervention:

People get married.
Companies close.
Politicians rise to power.
Celebrities appear.
Scandals happen.
New families emerge.

Thus, each save of inZOI becomes a unique simulation, where the player is not the center of the universe, but only one of many stories happening simultaneously.

Let’s reconsider this idea from the perspective of implementation.

I’ll give my own example:

  • a journalist came to the hospital to see his acquaintance, a surgeon, to complain about heel pain, but during the appointment the doctor got distracted by an urgent call and left the office (let’s say the game mechanics will add that all doctors deliberately leave patients alone from time to time (every third visit)), and the journalist, out of boredom (i.e., by the player’s order to “search for compromising material”), started digging through the doctor’s computer and found documents on an illegal kidney transplant.
  • the journalist accuses the doctor when he returns. It turns out that the doctor knew nothing about it, but asks to keep it secret so he can sort it out himself.
  • now the journalist can expose the scandal and lose the doctor’s friendship, but gain fame, or preserve the friendship but give up a career promotion
  • result: the families are now friends or enemies; either the journalist is promoted or the doctor is demoted.

That’s my version. Now please write me at least 10 more variations of this scenario that would differ from mine by something other than “illegal kidney transplant”.

If you can come up with this, I’ll agree that the idea is worth implementing and developers should start working on such a mechanism. But if there are only 2-3 possible options, the idea isn’t worth devoting resources to its implementation. Because it will require a lot of work, and the meaning will be exhausted by the 2nd or 3rd playthrough, and in essence, it won’t be any different from the choice we had in “closed school”, when cards popped up and you had a choice of what to do. In these cards you can write any scenario: from “help the surgeon perform an operation” to “wash the floors in the hospital instead of a sick cleaner”, and the result - enmity/friendship and promotion/demotion - will be exactly the same.
