If there is anyone that could assist me with making sure the file is linked correctly, I would greatly appreciate it. I have accomplished so much with the zoi having this issue and don’t want to lose him to dying because cheats won’t allow me to get back what I may lose if I just create him over again and add him back to the family.

This might be a temporary fix. The mew store (the store where you can buy the cat donuts) offers a donut which removes all bad moodlets for 200 mew coins. It is called Upbeat Donut. If you don’t have the coins, here is the cheat:

To add Mew coins instantly, open the Psycat Guide menu in the bottom right corner, click the toggle to Enable Cheats, then press Ctrl + Shift + C to open the console. Type addMeowCoin [amount] (per example addMeowCoin 200)
