While trying to update mods, the game crashed to desktop. So now when I enter the Curseforge section in Mods it loads to this endless black screen.

  • Hardware Specifications & Operating System I5 12600KF, RTX 3060 12GB, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1 TB SSD

  • Issue Date: Since the release of the 0.9.0 patch to now

  • Details: I updated my game on steam to the 0.9.0 patch the day it was released, so of course I went to update/re enable my mods. Once I started the process I clicked the check mark to select all but I went AFK momentarily and came back straight to my desktop. I restarted the game and followed the same steps, to be interrupted by the crash. Sometimes there would be an error message or not, it depended. Because of mods with previous patches this was something I got use to. After a few times I repeated the process, I had gotten the final crash that rendered my CurseForge section black before I got to finish updating everything. I’ve sat and waited but the game becomes unplayable, and I have to force quit. I waited to see if any updates would fix it, un/reinstalling, I cleared the game folder and my documents, but nothing is helping so far either and I’m still stuck. I have no way of telling if the video I attached will be playable, but if so this what I currently experience.

Did you completely delete all mods from the respective mod folder? Sometimes, even after re-installing, some corrupted files might stay.

Thank you for the reply! I did but I’m still having the problem. It just loads to the black screen much quicker now lol

If you haven’t done this already, please try to verify the game files via Steam. Here’s a short guide how to do it in case you’ve never done it before: How to verify your game files via steam :smiley:

I assume this is exactly the same issue as this one, which has been reported previously: Curseforge Crashes when trying to enter from in game → Can someone from the team please merge them? :folded_hands:

I scrolled through the post and there was a comment posted, saying to remove folders and such from the %appdata% folder and my CurseForge works again!!! The one place I hadn’t thought to look but I’m glad my problem is fixed now! No crashes, no error screens and most importantly no black screen
