Please Improve the Phone Messaging System

The phone messaging system needs a major improvement.
The messages often feel random and repetitive. Sometimes I am having a conversation with a Zoi about a specific subject, but suddenly the conversation changes to a completely unrelated topic. The messages don’t seem to follow the context of the conversation or reflect what the Zois are actually feeling.
I would like the messages to be based on the Zois’ emotions, relationships, and the situation they are currently experiencing. For example, if a Zoi is in love, missing someone, feeling jealous, happy, sad, worried, or excited, their messages should reflect those feelings and make sense within the conversation.
I also don’t want to keep receiving the same messages repeatedly. There should be much more variety and more natural conversations.
Another important improvement would be giving us more options to respond, or even allowing us to write our own messages. This would make conversations feel much more personal and natural.
Please make the phone messaging system more contextual, emotional, varied, and responsive to what is actually happening between the Zois. I think this would make relationships and everyday interactions feel much more alive and immersive.

What if we added the ability to write arbitrary messages there, how should the game handle that?

Let’s say Zoe writes to me: “Hey, want to go to a party on Friday?”

And instead of the standard “Yes”, “Need to think about it”, and “No”, I write something like: “The full moon is best observed on Mount Everest while looking at Picasso paintings”.

Do you think the game will actually be able to process that in any sensible way?

Yes, I did suggest that maybe we could write some messages ourselves, but that was only one suggestion among many, not a demand. My main point is that the current messaging mechanics need to be improved, because receiving the same message multiple times even after replying is annoying. You simply picked one detail from my comment to pick on me, just like you always do with other people’s comments. I gave several suggestions, and you chose just one of them to bother me about. You don’t have to agree with everything, but stop looking for reasons to annoy other people. It’s just my opinion, so stop “crying” about it. :upside_down_face:

I would support reply options that match our character traits. Per example, my Zoi is a genius/introverted perfectionist. So replies like "YOU ARE MY BESTIE FOREVER!!"as a positive friendship reply just doesn’t fit my character. And this could maybe prevent the constant repetitions, because the Zoi on the other end might adapt, because of their own traits, but I don’t know how difficult it would be to execute in a programming sense. Maybe it’s rather based on the characteristics than every individual trait. A perfectionist may come across more pragmatic than a charmer.

I absolutely agree that some phone messages are completely out of context and I’m like “That… reply doesn’t make sense…”

You really went out of your way to misunderstand what I wrote, didn’t you? I never said the game would have to literally interpret every random sentence. Study a little about cognition, interpretation, and context before trying to use an absurd example to invalidate a suggestion. I gave several ideas, but you specifically went looking for one to annoy me about. Impressive. Study reading comprehension before trying to argue about something you clearly didn’t understand.

Yes, either way, they were just suggestions, not demands. I’m going to start annoying him the same way he annoys everyone else.

Annoy who? What do I have to do with that? I’m a bit confused

I never said that you had anything to do with it. The guy above simply can’t understand other people’s ideas. I gave several suggestions, and he chose a completely out-of-context example just to pick on me. Instead of having a normal discussion, he prefers to use sarcasm and look for problems in what other people say. I never said that you had anything to do with it. I’m just saying that he doesn’t have the same flexibility you do when it comes to understanding different points of view, and he seems to think that Kjun has the same difficulty interpreting texts that he does.

Well, this was a direct reply to my comment, so I was slightly confused, since my comment generally supported the idea.

I don’t want to interfere between you two, because I don’t want to make it worse and I don’t know the situation between the two of you. I’m just all for neutral and respectful behavior from all sides without getting personal. I mean that in general, not as a judgemental comment:four_leaf_clover:.

As for the topic, I would also like to see more contextual replies for phone calls too. They are not as bad as the messages, but also repetitive very fast

Thank you from the bottom of my heart  for understanding my comment. I wish everyone were as respectful and reasonable as you were. I’m going to delete my idea and post it again, and if he comes after me again, I’ll have to report the issue to Kjun’s team, because it’s really annoying when someone tries to invalidate another person’s idea instead of simply respecting a different opinion. Thank you so much for your support, you’re such a sweetheart!

I don’t think you have to delete the post per se. I think that’s sometimes not even possible. I also wanted to delete one of my topics a while ago and it said I have to contact an admin, so I left it.

And in regards of the conflict, I don’t think @Carnel s intentions were bad, but they have a similar “issue” I also have. We often come across as too blunt. I also had some conflicts with other users for that reason. I often sound “cold” or “too critical” or that I want to be better than the original forum post (yes, someone actually said I want to turn a suggestion into a competition). We are so many different people here and while I understand that the comment seems harsh from Carnel, I think they didn’t want to harm anyone, but more question how a system like that would look in the game. Of course I’m not their interpreter and I don’t have the right to claim “yes, this situation is exactly as I say”. I can only speak from experience.

We all should treat each other with respect and keep our disputes about the ideas only, not drifting into personal territory :four_leaf_clover:

I really tried to delete my post, but I couldn’t. What a shame.

And I genuinely understand your point of view. I have no problem with people who are more critical or who see things differently. I actually think it’s important to hear different opinions. What bothered me was that he took just one of the several suggestions I made and created a completely out-of-context example, because I felt that my idea ended up being misrepresented. Maybe I didn’t explain myself in the best way, but I was simply trying to suggest ways to improve the messaging mechanics, not saying that one specific solution had to be implemented. In any case, I appreciate you talking to me respectfully. I don’t want to turn this into a bigger argument. I think we can simply have different opinions and move on.

I can see the point.

And I do agree that the best for now is keeping it about the topic, collect ideas and maybe how they can be executed (or not executed) together and brainstorm how the idea can work:four_leaf_clover:.

So to get back to your topic, I find it an interesting idea with the mood as well. If a Zoi is angry, he might be unable to give a “nice” or “happy” answer. Whereas a “lovestruck” mood could give flirty/romantic reply options.

Hi. I agree with the author of this thread, the messaging system needs improvement, sometimes messages received by my zoi are just very strange and I wonder what’s the point?!, or what my zoi writes - sometimes it’s just complete nonsense.

I would like some improvements to the messaging and also calling options. I don’t really think that we would need the option to text the messages ourselves but we could definitely have more options to choose from depending on the realtionship level, mood etc.

What I also still don’t really like is how the incoming calls are implemented. You just get a random text, reply positive and get a small relationship uplift. But in reality your Zoi does not even answer the call because he is doing something else. I think here it would be great if the Zoi would really take the call, talk to the other Zoi and then get an option to choose from or whatever to increase or decrease the relationship.

And I am still missing the possibility to just call another Zoi to chat and then maybe select different topics to increase / decrease the relationship. This is still not possible at all.

I don’t remember in which thread I posted this, but I agree regarding the phonecalls.

The calls basically last one second. A mix of both might be a good middleground. There are these calls with these prompted messages, if the Zoi on the other end has something significant to say that it should be portrayed by a dialogue window. And on the other hand, there should be casual calls where our Zoi just sits on the couch/cooks/relaxes (anything really, being able to put the other Zoi on speaker) and talks with another Zoi for a while, occasionally getting +/- on relationship. And there definitely needs to be an option to call a Zoi just to chat. Same with an online chatting function

Look, my friend, let’s get down to brass tacks, shall we? Because I want to understand who’s actually attacking whom here.

Did I write “All your suggestions are nonsense!” or something like that? No, I didn’t say anything of the sort.

And yes, I did single out one of your suggestions from among many. (By the way, in the phrase “This is a suggestion, not a demand,” I don’t understand what you mean at all. We can’t demand anything from developers here in principle — we can only express wishes. So I genuinely don’t understand what you meant by that). So I singled out ONE suggestion about which I had a specific question — and asked it to you, accompanying it with a funny example.

And what do I see in response? “You picked one phrase to nitpick me!”

Let’s be honest: this is only the second time I’m seeing you on the forum. The first time we interacted, I tried to help you: first I said the game already has the mechanic you need, and then I even tried to help you rephrase your suggestion more clearly.

Why would I “nitpick” you, of all people? But judging by your response, it’s actually YOU who’s been watching me, based on your words “you always do this with other people’s comments.” You know, I’m starting to get scared of you…

I hope that instead of looking for nitpicks in my words directed personally at you, you’ll understand one simple thing: if a person has a question about a specific part of your suggestion — they have every right to clarify YOUR vision for implementing that particular part, rather than asking a million questions about everything else that’s fairly obvious.

I have no objection to correspondence being more diverse and context-dependent. But I really have no idea how to implement the ability to write messages about absolutely any topics in the game right now. And I gave you an example. And I asked one fairly specific question: do you think the game could handle that correctly?

And in response, I got all of this…

Now I have a new question: should I report YOU to the forum team instead of you reporting me? Especially considering your admissions above that you decided to “get on my nerves” and, like someone else once did, you’re now suggesting I study something before daring to ask you a completely harmless question. A question you still haven’t answered, hiding behind “my difficulty with interpreting texts.”

I understand your point better after your explanation. I think there was also a misunderstanding because of the forum’s translation, which sometimes makes certain sentences sound a little strange. When I read your example, I interpreted it as sarcasm, so I reacted defensively.I apologize for the way I responded and for the things I said in the heat of the moment. In any case, the possibility of writing messages freely was just one suggestion among several. My main point remains that the messaging mechanics need to be improved, because they are currently very repetitive and don’t always make sense with the Zois’ context and feelings.Thank you for explaining your point of view better. I think it’s best to leave this misunderstanding behind and move forward without any hard feelings. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::hugs:

Completely agree! :folded_hands:

But I’m really curious: what would you want to write to another Zoi if you had the chance? Would you like the game to implement something like a full-fledged language model that you could have conversations with on pretty much any topic?

Me, for example, I’m not even sure… Probably not, actually. I think I’d inevitably end up changing the subject to something like what I mentioned above, and that would break the immersion in the game. It would turn out that I’m not talking to a game character, but having a conversation with something like Google’s AI

I heard that something like that was implemented in Skyrim, but they actually trained the model on wikis describing the Elder Scrolls universe, so it works more or less fine there. But in the InZOI universe, I can’t even imagine what you could train it on. Maybe just on the in-game hints from Psi-cat?.. Anyway, as I already said, I don’t have a very clear picture of the outcome, so I’m not sure I’d want something like that.

But more dialogue choices — now that’s what we need! :+1:
