Cahaya is a wonderful city with a lot to do, and a lot of things waiting to happen, but I believe the immersion and fun would be enhanced if an extra layer of interactivity and reactivity between the zois and the environment, as well as between zois was added when it comes to the activities and events that are specific to Cahaya.
- ACTIVITIES: Better together!
Draw Joint Fortune: It would be a sweet detail if, when drawing your fortune at the temple, the option “Draw fortune with…” would pop up. in which you could select a zoi (as long as they’re nearby) to draw your joint fortune with. Selecting this optionwould prompt a short animation where both zois reach out and grab the same stick (or two separate ones, if that would be easier to animate), which would generate a pop up window with a brief quote giving them the fortune. Bonus: In order to “draw fortune together”, the zois would have to be good friends, lovers or family members.
Burn Incense together: In the same way that with the draw fortune option, when giving an incense offering to the cat statue, you would have the option to do it with a zoi of your choice.
CAT STATUE REACTS: Add the following options when burning incense and praying to the cat statue:
- Ask about love future
- Ask about job future
- Ask about worries
- Ask about fortune
- Ask for a blessing
- Ask for protection of your crops
You could select these both together with another zoi or alone as its available now, and the Cat Statue would react with its eyes glowing yellow, red or blue and adding a positive, negative or doubtful moodlet to the zois interacting with it. This would incentive players to use these interactions more, as the result wouldn’t always be the same.
Moreover, to connect the different activities you can do in Cahaya with each other, there could be an option to make an offering with the fruit or veggies you have farmed.
- WEATHER: Make Zois more reactive and community oriented
Add a “Slipping on the Floor” Animation Chance
Zois could have the chance to slip on the slippery floor and fall on their faces or their backs while running after Heavy Rain starts, or even normal rain. This would give a great chance for funny pictures and story telling, and also add a new layer of immersion to natural disaster situations in-game.
Zois could Leave Puddles on the Floor
After getting indoors after running away from the heavy rain, it would add immersion if the zoi left a puddle at the entrance for some seconds, and then had to do some interaction near a fire or a heater to dry their clothes and themselves.
Make natural disasters more community oriented
Add time-gated interactions during the ocurrence of a natural disaster like heavy rain or heatwaves that allow you to help others during these circumstances. An example would be “offer shelter” to a wandering zoi during a flood, “try to calm down” to a zoi who is freaking out because of a flood, “rescue” to a stray cat during a flood, or “offer a bottle of water” to a zoi that is suffering from a heat wave.
Community Emergency Meeting Point
There could be a small roofed spot in the city where zois could take shelter if the heavy rain surprises them away from home or if a zoi from their family is out while there is a rainfall and they want to reunite. These emergency meeting points are abundant in many countries where natural disasters are not uncommon and would be a good addition to the gameplay.
Checking on others through phone
During a natural disaster in Cahaya, there could be a phone interaction to “check on” or “ask if they are safe” to family members, friends or if you are a tourist, whomever you travelled with. Acquantances of your zoi with enough levels of friendship or romance could also reach out to your zoi to ask if they’re safe. This phone interaction would have a positive impact on the relationship.
- ANCESTORS / HOME ALTARS
Cahaya DLC introduced the Cat temple, and activities like wishing good fortune and drawing fortune sticks. In the general update, souls lingering after death were also introduced. My suggestion is to add home altars that you can place in your zoi’s home. These home altars would allow the following interactions:
- Ask for good fortune
- Ask for guidance from ancestors
- Ask for a sign from the cat divinity
- Light up incense
- Food offerings to:
- Appease/Celebrate the deceased (if you have a deceased family member that is still around in the form of a ghost, food offering can make then pass on and gets you rid of the ghost).
- Comfort the deceased (if you have a deceased family member that is still around in the form of a ghost but you don’t wante them gone yet, this will lower the Karma of the deceased so that they will be closer to crossing to the other side).
- Cat-Divinity: Making an offering to the cat-divinity to ask for good luck.
- If you have good karma: 50% chance of getting lucky moodlet and 50% chance of getting nothing.
- If you have bad karma: 50% chance of getting lucky moodlet and 50% chance of getting unlucky moodlet.
