For example, “compliment hairstyle” should not be considered romantic. Friends and family might compliment someone’s hairstyle too. Same goes for “find similarities.” That shouldn’t be romantic. That is a basic part of any relationship, whether it’s romantic, platonic, or family-related. It makes for awkward interactions between Zois.
Also, I think the business options should only apply in the context of business. Either between a customer and worker or if you are actually running a business with someone. If you meet someone random at a bar, you usually aren’t trying to find a business partner. It feels like an odd measure for most interactions.
I agree. There are a lot of interactions that need to be changed or moved. These are the interactions that I’ve found that have a romantic effect but are listed under various friendly categories.
Daily life:
Find common interests*
Talk about daily life*
Humour:
Compliment appearance
Tell a dirty joke
Chit chat:
Ask about views on dating
Ask about views on marriage
Actions:
Make a mood-lifting joke*
Cheer on*
Compliment
I think most of these should be moved to the ‘romantic’ category. Those marked with * should be changed to friendly interactions and all romantic effects removed.
It should generally be better marked which dialogue belongs to which type of relationship, that would improve quite a bit. You could simply color-code it, blue, yellow/orange and pink (red or something maybe for a mean hostile action). Because with some dialogues it’s clear, with others it’s not. And the translation hasn’t always been perfect. Besides, in German you would then also be able to better see whether it’s “Tell a simple joke” or “Tell a bad joke”. I’ve already accidentally told a lot of bad jokes
