"Mirror, mirror on the wall..."

We discussed this a while ago in this post.
Since I heard it now for the first time myself, I really think this is a cultural touch.
I often hear this in Korean or Japanese dramas :psycat_paw:

Yeah, I found the post.

I am aware of Korean culture (and a heavy watcher of K-dramas), but I’m certain I’ve heard this same voice clip come directly from my Zoi’s child before. That’s why my first thought was that this was a misplaced voice clip rather than intentional. I could be wrong. We’ll see.

Not sure if you ever got the clip because there’s been no response from the team since then, but if you still need a video clip of this, I posted one here on my bug report since I didn’t know this was mentioned already: Small Talk Audio Glitch: Adult Female-Framed Zoi Sounds like Child Zoi

Could you confirm whether this is a bug or intentional?

Agreed, the acting cute thing is common in Korean programming. Both men and women do it. I first saw finger hearts in inZOI, now I see it a lot on Korean programming; I must have never noticed it before. We’re being educated by zois.

Yeah, if the ā€œAegyoā€ is intentional then the voice acting is bad because it confuses people thinking it’s an adult doing ā€œbaby talkā€ which is annoying (irl). But if it’s a cultural thing, the team could do way better than using a child’s voice. :eyes:

Hi all, @here
As @LennyOgg pointed out, this issue has been mentioned a while ago so I’ll be merging this entire post to that thread. In the meantime, we’ll take a look into this issue.
Thanks everyone!

Agreed, and it needs to be more than just one word, with accompanying facial expressions or gestures. It just doesn’t sound right as it is and I find it annoying. Also, why don’t the male voices do this also, if it is common for both sexes in Korean culture? It sounds unintentional to me.

It really doesn’t sound or look anything like Aegyo at all to me, as someone who consumes Korean media a lot. If it were Japanese, then maybe that would be a solid argument because of the tone, but not Korean. They don’t sound that childlike in tone when doing it, more just with childlike or ā€œcutesyā€ mannerisms and language. The voice pitch is raised when doing it, but not like that. Inserting an actual child Zoi audio clip would not make any sense for Aegyo at all, unless it’s a placeholder.

But there are quite a few actual Aegyo social interactions in the game already, and none of them sound like a literal child. It’s hard for me to believe that’s what that is.

Hi everyone! (@here)

We’d like to inform you that this issue has been fixed today! Adult female Zois should no longer intermittently play child voice clips during ā€˜Small Talk’ interactions.

Thanks everyone for bringing this to our attention and for your patience. :psycat_blush:
