Not sure if this is a bug or generally intended but if intended it seems not yet to work smoothly. I noticed lately that it happens quite frequently when your Zoi is talking to another Zoi on a public lot they all of a sudden stop talking and stand idle even though more conversations are tied up in their chain. They sometimes stand for 10-15 in game minutes doing nothing until somebody they don`t even yet know arrives and joins their conversation.
It might be intended that some random NPCs want to join your conversation and this would be fine. But somebody who you don`t yet know and sometimes do not even yet see makes you to stop your conversation to wait for this somebody to arrive? Why? This does not really make sense.
It would be Ok if the Zois would be talking until this other NPC Zoi has arrived and is next to them and then they would let this Zoi to join but not from such a big distance.
I tried to catch such a situation in a screenshot and only have this one. There have been cases where the NPC Zoi was not even yet visible on screen first and the Zois were already waiting. So here the distance is not that huge but still too big from my perspective as it really breaks the immersion. The 2 Zois have stoped talking, so I zoomed out to later find out that the other Zoi in the blue circle wanted to join:
this is a bane for me on sims 3 with large lots. inzoi made it way more noticeable as of 0.4 where zois now can wander off of their lots to go down the street, or to the beach to have a convo with someone. i’m hoping they put a lot of effort into multitasking and it isn’t just ‘i can consume a cup of tea while sitting and chatting’. it should also include another zoi doing their own thing until the zoi arrives to actually start the convo. it’ll be tricky because the waiting zoi could be doing a long animation, so they’ll have to know to finish it or cancel itself its really long.
@svujgeoejoxzgctxkd I also have the feeling that this is worse now compared to pre 0.4 update. Before at least I never noticed that it happened or disturbed me much.
Now it might be that this happens like 3 times when you have a longer conversation ongoing to build up relationship with a a specific Zoi. And given how long it takes for the random NPCs to arrive to then tell you one thing and leave again, this idle standing is not only immersion breaking but also takes too much empty time.
I would really expect that it is the other way around. The random NPC should arrive and then stand and wait until you finished your current task or conversation and then jump in before the next starts. It should not be the active Zoi who needs to wait.
And yes… now that you both mention it @Scarlett and @svujgeoejoxzgctxkd … we had this in Sims 3 on large lots. Actually the idle standing is very similar to that.
This is really, really annoying and actually it is not only when the Zois are on a large lot. If the lot is not that large then they wait for some people around the corner on the street to join. I mean this is not meaningful in any way. How can the Zoi even know somebody will want to join them who is 3 lots far away.
I really hope this will be fixed. It takes so much time to wait and wait and wait until the conversation you are having can go on.
This is my latest example. The 2 Zois on the Asana Yoga property are talking and started to stand idle. I zoomed out to make a screenshot and then later found out that the other Zoi on the street marked in blue wanted to join. This Zoi is 2 houses away. There is no realistic way to assume that the 2 Zois would be able to already see that this Zoi wants to talk to them.
Yes, I’ve also had this behavior interrupt my game. Standing around unable to continue the conversation is bad enough, but you often end up with some random stranger now cluttering up your list of contacts. Who invited you anyway?!
When I recognize this problem occurring yet again, I just have my Zoi walk away and abandon the conversation. It’s not worth the aggravation.
Hi everyone (@here),
Apologies for the issue - we know it can be frustrating.
We’re currently looking into it. Will share any updates in this thread.
Thank you!
It has been a while but the issue still persists unfortunately.
The 2 Zois in red circle talking and suddenly standing idle to wait for the Zoi in the yellow circle - who would normally not even see them…. - to join for a minute of talk before he leaves again. But the 2 Zois talking wait idle for 15 in-game minutes and stop their conversation to wait for this guy who both don´t even know to join.
I also find it extremely annoying especially on dates when your romantic zois spend half the date waiting for someone to walk over from miles away to speak , walk away and then come back to butt in once more
That’s indeed extremely annoying. This happens every time I’m talking to a ZOI on a public lot. And on top, I don’t know away to make that ZOI leaving the conversation.
Exactly @HolgerW there is no way to avoid it. Only thing you can do is to just stop the entire conversation and leave. But if you want to continue to talk to the Zoi you are talking to, you need to wait for nothing. Because as @Robert said they take ages to arrive and then the random NPC talks to the Zois for a second and runs away. Completely unneeded and annoying behavior.
And as I mentioned before: in the first place why would 2 Zois who are talking to each other wait for someone they don´t yet see and they don´t know to join their conversation. This makes no sense at all. If this at least would be a Zoi walking by directly in front of them. Then Ok, we could see some kind of a realism in this as you somtimes are addressed by random people on the street. But you would never wait for somebody to interrupt your conversation who is so far away that you don´t even see this person.
Yes there needs to be a distance limit. If a NPC Zoi is not within a reasonable distance the game shouldn’t add them to conversation. There also needs to be other restrictions like lessening the chance of a stranger butting into a conversation, especially if the other two Zois are on a date.
Or at the very least the other zois continue interacting with each other, and only initiate speak with the new zoi when s/he get into talking distance.
