So, a starter pack of diversity is better than nothing, but there’s always room for improvement!
My proposal for the wishlist is simple: More, simply more!
Main concept is a diverse range of hairstyles for both males and females, taking into account various cultural backgrounds and origins. This will enhance the storytelling and create a more immersive and engaging gaming experience.
Here’s some ideas so you can get the jeez!
Feel free to elaborate on this idea in the comments below.
(afterall I’m just presenting the idea, so your imagination can be greater then mine.)
Based on the game preview for MacOs, Bantu Knots with baby hairs and what looks like longer locs that is half tied up for males will be included in the Cahaya DLC. So Inzoi is already walking on the path of including more diverse range of hairstyles- thank you devs!!! . Can’t wait to see what other hairstyle will be included in all background.
Love this idea so much! I also mentioned it would be cool to have toggleable edges for straight and non-braided hairstyles so it works for all parties!!
Another style I’ve noticed people not talking about are balding hairstyles. There are many people who suffer from alopecia and would like to see themselves represented.
In addition to MORE hair stayles, I’d also love if the color of the hair could please stay the same as it was already configured by the user, when choosing different hair styles and trying them out?
I find it very cumbersome to always have to re-do the color, when i try out new hair styles, and most hair styles don’t have a warm light blonde color preset to make it easier - I basically have to click on a hairstyle, then copy paste hex values to all color options, just to try out a hairstyle in blonde..
And would really appreciate more long hair styles that look flattering.
And some natural blonde presets, as it’s really hard to create these with the colorwheel somehow, (maybe I’m just not good enough in hitting the right tone, but I always struggle and would appreciate a preset). Like this:
Trying to force diversity through the algorithm was one thing, but I can absolutely get behind this - even if it accidentally skews the Zoi generation algorithm - because it gives more player choice and is truly acknowledging other cultures. Apologies if anyone thought I was a bigot when I had issue on the Discord, that wasn’t what it was about but I genuinely apologize for confusing the meaning of two similar-sounding words that are in fact exact opposites.
Yes, please add more hair choices from around the globe. Also, don’t restrict hairstyles to one gender, it’s not like a single player game should do more than allow the user to filter (or not filter) by “traditionally-applicable” gender (and/or to exclude what is “traditionally-applicable” for the selected gender if one so chooses). Maybe a third category for “Other” and the option to select combinations of two of the three would also be prudent.
Lastly, clothing. That I’ve always said should be filled with diversity. Actual research should be done on the culture’s clothing, but stereotypical dress has it’s place: The only way you know someone is a ninja is when they want you to (by dressing accordingly), and that isn’t irrelevant for being a stereotype or hollywood cliche. It’s a game, so if someone wants to have a suburban dojo war between actual Shinobi with their headbands but cheesy shonen anime vibes, and another dojo with Hollywood “Japanese Stagehand Ninjas”, as long as it’s fun and the research goes deeper than that, I see no reason to limit clothing to Caucasian-Western standards. Show me Aboriginees, Saami, Native Hawaiians, Islamic Renaissance clothing, anything that breaks up the monotony of monoculture and does so without being too intrusive - like clothing choices - is a good thing.
Anyway, I’ll refrain from talking politics any more than I have now.
Heheh no worries. It’s all love and well, of course, the ultimate goal should be having a foundation of great and diverse cultures and origins, and you can create anyone. We all come in different sizes and have different hairstyles, so it’s only natural for sure. I totally agreed that they should strengthen their research on this regard, and well, quite honestly, it is why I felt like writing a wishlist like this because I see the lack of it.
As a half latino with really curly long hair, I cannot agree more haha none of the styles really work to emulate my hair in game, so yessssss please Inzoi devs, more hair.
Of course, feel free to share some inspiration if you have the time. Hopefully, if we give this post enough recognition, they’ll listen to us. Commenting and adding inspiration are very helpful because of how the forums currently operate.
