I’l love to have an additional icon that rotates the material 90 degrees so that the planks in the pic below, for example, would go from west to east instead of north to south, if you know what I mean?

Fully agreed!! This is my biggest pet peeve with the textures, along with not being able to copy and paste them onto different walls
