My Zoi attended her trial after getting arrested (she posted bail so she wasn’t in jail). When she was teleported to the court room, it seemed another session was already happening with NPCs. Because of this, the prosecutor and my Zoi the defendant kept standing outside doing nothing. After a bit, chance cards for alibi, witnesses and final statement did pop up while they were all just standing there outside, but in the mission menu these tasks did not proceed. The final verdict also never happened. The NPC trial case didn’t seem to progress at all, they were all just sitting there. I also kept getting the ‘You cannot use this’ warning. In the end I got a non-attendance fine when the timer ran out.
I’m using a Mac, never used a mod (not available for Mac I don’t believe) and something similar happened for me. Instead, when I had a trial, I did arrive and my zoi was in the courtroom awaiting trial, but it never started because the person I requested to give a false testimony never showed. It resulted in my zoi being counted absent.
Steps to Reproduce: Get arrested and attend your trial while waiting for friend to give false testimony, maybe have conflict in the other zoi’s schedule as well.
UPDATE: I started over from an autosave and redid the trial. I thought it was an issue of my zoi’s friend appearing in court, but I guess they don’t have to actually appear. I was able to go through the trial this time, I didn’t do anything differently.
This literally happened to me today - everything that was mentioned transpired in my gameplay as well.
A trial currently in session with a NPC when my zoi showed up for court after teleporting (posted bail so wasn’t in jail). The prosecutor, lawyer and etc. for my trial stayed outside. As there was already a prosecutor, lawyer, audience and etc. inside the court for the NPC’s trial.
Script actions menu popped up, but there was no progression even though the timer was going down
After the NPC’s trial was done, my zoi sat down and the ‘assess the (defendant’s) atmosphere’ action happened- afterwards there was no progression with my trial.
Once the scripted actions timer ran out, I’d received a $3,500 fine for ‘non attendance’ even though I did attend my court hearing.
Steps to Reproduce: Get arrested, get a court date scheduled. Once its time to attend the case, it never starts and the courthouse remains empty. Zois get charged a standard 3,500 non attendance fee. In addition, there is no schedule prompt appearing to have my zoi attend the court case.
I honestly don’t even get to the courtsystem! It just gives me a fine to pay , there is a cop coming handcuffing me but nothing happens than my zoi paying off her fine for literally hitting somoene.
@jcoppersmith93 please report this “missing play button” bug you found in a separate thread. I assume this could possibly become a bigger issue if they don’t fix it in time.
@HIB0 I haven’t played with the new courtsystem at all yet, but you should definitely check in the Wishlist category and post this as a new suggestion for improvement (in case no existing thread covers it yet).
You’ll only get arrested if you commit a serious crime or are a repeat offender. Try leveling up your crime skill and then steal coins from the vending machine. That should get you arrested for theft. If you scam people for game items multiple times you will also get arrested for fraud (first time you get a fine).
Steps to Reproduce:Attend an appointed court hearing and Zois will just sit until time runs out, then my Zoi is fined 3500 Mew. There is no Scripted Action play button to further the case.
Please provide the entire save file(s) from the date when the issue occurred.
Temporary fix: I just found out that it will help to use emergency rescue on the Prosecutor (or any other stuck Zoi in the court room), it’ll spawn him outside the court room and he’ll walk back in and continue the trial.

As the subject says, court cases rarely finish. At some point the process just stops and the timer runs down, at the end of which a fee of 3500 will be charged for non-attendance. I’ve seen it hang after the “Atmosphere” bit in the beginning and after the second last step, before the final verdict.
I cannot upload the savegame as you requested, because it’s bigger than 30MB (46MB).
Mods: removed (used some earlier in this save, but removed all of them a couple of weeks ago and played many hours without them, I don’t remember which mods I used, sorry)
Steps to Reproduce: My Zoi goes to court as a defendant. The prosecutor did not come, the points of the event are not fulfiled. As a result, my Zoi received a fine for failure to appear in court
