Does anyone know how to achieve a similar result as the below image? I’ve been at it for hours but can’t figure it out for the life of me.
I’ve tried building a wall around the excess floor but no luck.
My first reflex would be to click on that floor that sticking out and selecting delete (or press delete on keyboard ?)

I’ve tried but that way the entire floor gets deleted

I figured I’d also open up the conversation to spiral staircase builds for an all round thread. I’ve seen some posts on other websites but also can’t figure out how they’ve done it.
If anyone can shed some light on how they’ve worked around the limitations, I am sure all of us would be very appreciative 
Seems like technically it’s possible by creating a small room with the stairs and using the room selection tool, but I’m still running into issues with the excess floor.
