Hello, everyone. I’m not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but I noticed that in my game (I’m playing in Cahaya), some babies born in other houses don’t receive their parents’ surname, but rather a random surname. When I see that this has happened, I go back to a previous save to play in the house where the baby will be born and give him the family surname. I’m not sure if this is intentional, because the game is Korean and Cahaya also represents a different country from mine, I don’t know if this is normal in those places (I’m not judging, here in Brazil surnames are a mess too), and that’s why the game portrays it that way. Anyway, is it a bug or not?

This has never happened to me. I’ve had children born while I wasn’t playing that family and they received a random name, but the father’s surname.

This is not due to Cahaya because I have the same thing at Bliss Bay.
My family trees are no longer correct if I’m not present at the birth of children. Since I play in rotation, it’s not obvious, I missed two births and the children have different names…
This has been since the last update (not the last small patch but the previous January update).
Ideally, I think it would be good to have a notification, even if we’re not playing in the family, with the possibility of naming the child ourselves.
For example “a male child was born to parents Zoi '-names-, please name him” and we would enter the names and first names…

I agree 100%, I also play in rotation and I’ve missed quite a few births. Even though the surname is correct, the names are almost all Korean or Chinese.

If only the game would release some way to change the names of the Sims, like in The Sims 3, where it was possible to go to City Hall and ask to change your child’s name. Really, before the Christmas update, my babies had their father’s last name, and now they’re being born with random last names. I end up monitoring the pregnant Sims in the city so that the last names don’t get lost, which is very annoying.

Yes, I completely agree with all of you. As rotational player I’ve experienced Zoi babies with different surnames than their parents only one time, but missing a birth and having a randomized first name is also totally breaking the immersion.
A way to rename Zois should get implemented. Maybe when going to some kind of town hall to change it, like some other users have suggested in various Wishlist threads. I really hope we get a chance to rename them soon.

I just had this happen in my game. I was waiting for a Zoi from my other households to give birth and it seems she gave birth when I loaded in my game today and the game gave the baby a random last name Moon. That’s not even the household name which is Dolos. This just messed up my family tree! And I’ve noticed my game is overtaken by Zois with last names Moon. Can we get a fix for this please???! Or let us change names?
