wedding/marriages.

  1. when making the wedding event, zoi’s should not automatically be married. the option to marry/exchange rings should be at the wedding event on the wedding day.
  2. once married, female zoi’s should take the husband’s last name automatically.
  3. is it possible to add a feature to take a honeymoon with your newlywed.

I agree with most of this. Maybe a pop up could come up for both Zois asking what they would like their surname to be. Some might like hyphenated etc

It’s really annoying when Zoi’s get married before they have their wedding

This will be good to be implemented

YESSS!!!

I like everything except the last name thing. It might be an option, but not the rule.
Where I live in Italy, no woman takes her husband’s last name  It’s not even allowed by law.

1 & 3 are great ideas. 1 in particular would allow for more drama, like calling off weddings and leaving the partner at the altar. There should also be an “elope” option and courthouse marriages, too.

For 2, as another poster mentioned, there are cultures where women don’t change their surname after marriage. Even discounting that (and the cultures that use clan names or matro/patronyms instead of surnames), the concept breaks down when dealing with non-hetero couples. A prompt asking for what the player wants (change surname, hyphenate, or keep as is) is a better idea.

It should also ask if the surname change should apply to stepchildren as well.

One concept I’d like to bring up is arranged marriages and matchmaking. It’s still common around the world and has storytelling value; there’s a Zoi family that I’m playing where that’s a part of their lore, and while I can cheat the relationship down, the couple falling in love doesn’t work with the story.

There should also be a more developed divorce mechanic (including custody battles, child support, and alimony) and amicable divorces, and family member’s reactions to the divorce. More aggressive family members can even antagonize their former in-law.

One last idea I have is in-law reactions to the marriage. Zois can ask their potential in-laws for approval, and the in-laws can reject or accept them for different reasons (ex. rejecting them because they have no job, accepting them because they’re in law or medicine, etc.).

I love all of your ideas but don’t quite agree on this part, as there are some places in the world where this is not done. Maybe you could choose what surname / last name to the household would be taking on instead?

But absolutely agree on the rest, specially the honeymoon. Indeed, I think a honeymoon themed dlc is a great idea :custom_butterfly:

That’s a really fun idea!
