Not sure if this is a bug, may just be that some furniture items cannot yet be refurbished, but I have noticed wear appearing on a lot of household objects that cannot be resolved without re-purchasing them in build mode (ie: toilets, built in cabinets, dining chairs, tables, chess table, etc.)

  • Would be a lot better if every object that could show wear and tear (I like this, just to be clear) could be manually refurbished rather than left to look shoddy or outright replaced. May be planned, but just thought I would highlight this.

Some furniture may appear worn or grungy because it’s dirty. I’ve noticed this on beds and stoves but it may happen on the other type of items you mentioned.

Try using your vacuum in the immediate area and see if the discoloration goes away.

Hi @SmallArchangel :psycat_blush:

As @Klinn so kindly explained, sometimes furniture may only look worn out when it’s actually just dirty, or it might even be intentionally designed that way. In other cases, the item may not be worn down enough to refurbish, or there could be another piece of furniture (like a chair or a fan) blocking the Zoi. In those situations, you’ll see a message that says: “You cannot move towards the target.”

If you still believe this might be a bug, please share a screenshot or a save file so we can investigate further.

Thanks!

Cleaning is the first thing I tried, of course, but it makes no difference. The items stay looking worn and dirty until I replace them in build mode.

Thanks for your reply, but the items I am talking about did not start out looking worn, the new replacements I bought looked completely different to prove it (brighter colours, no battered edges or scratches etc.)

They certainly appear damaged enough to refurbish; my zoi was able to refurb the entire kitchen, living room suite and bed, and none of those items actually looked shabby at all. But Dining chairs, pool table, chess table, and a bunch of built-in cabinets looked like antiques after an in-game week.

As I said to Klinn, cleaning in the proximity of the items made no difference to their condition, and there was nothing in the way to prevent my zoi from refurbishing them. There is no option to refurbish, and in the case of most objects, they are accessible enough to use so should be accessible to fix up.

I believe that some objects just do not have the “refurbish” option attached to them yet, in spite of ageing visually. As I say, I really like the fact that household furnishings can show their age - though I think it should take longer than a week, and all items this is true of need to be refurbish-able.

I will try to post a screen when I get home, but might not be able to given I have already replaced all degraded items…

Thank you so much for explaining in such detail :psycat_thumbsup: If you’re able to grab a screenshot, please share it with us. If not, no worries—just letting us know the exact furniture names will be enough for us to check on our side.

I noticed this occurring to the drum set item. The seat looks torn but there is no option to refurbish.

Ok, I will provide a screen or two if I can, and in any case will make a list with all the correct names of the items I have noticed so far, thanks.

I also noticed that some objects get dirty pretty fast.
For example in the pics below, this counter I only placed recently, a good while after the other counter on the same lot, but only the later placed counter is already dirty, nothing else.
I also have the ‘City Sanitation’ in the city settings on highest possible and before, things didn’t get dirty so fast. Except for one coffee table a few months ago.

I have sanitation set to default and hardly ever need to clean. In one in-game week, everything seems to be run down and damaged, but the only thing that actually got dirty and needed cleaning was the oven.

Seems pretty crazy for things to get worn out before they get dirty, lol.

You can see the difference between the bidet toilet on the left and the new one I bought, and coloured identically, on the right. Cleaning does not make any difference to this and there is no option to refurbish.

Same with the units in the same bathroom, all look shabby and old after 1 in-game week, before any of them ever showed any dirt. The only option for now is to replace them every week, which is time-consuming and a bit silly. Some zois fit well in a run-down environment, some want to keep it nice!

Here is a list of the other objects in the same house showing wear after the first week (and which cannot be refurbished):

Built In Slim Cabinet, Minimalist Half Size Cupboard, Quilted Pattern Z Dining Chair, Half Round Dining Chair, Chessboard, Ergonomic Office Chair, Straight Handle Wooden Desk, Basic Console Table, Classic Wooden Bookshelf, Wooden Two Layer Side Table.

I am sure there will be others, these are just the ones I have examined and happen to be using. The worn/damaged overlay seems to apply to most items, which as I have said, I actually quite like! Some houses look great run-down and dirty. But in general the rate at which this happens needs to be slowed down, and we need a more efficient way to rectify it to keep houses looking neat.

Hi everyone, @here
Thank you so much for sharing so many screenshots and the detailed lists.:thankyou:
After checking, it turns out that being able to refurbish only certain furniture items is the current intended specification.:psycat_sad:
However, we’re fully aware of the inconvenience, and we will do our best to improve this matter. Thank you everyone for your continued support and teamwork for inZOI. We really appreciate it :custom_heart:

I have the exact same issue. I can refurbish some furniture like the bed and countertop that has nothing on it. I don’t want to move everything to refurbish the counters. End tables are another one I’ve had get scuffed up along the edges and they can’t be refurbished either.

To be honest, I hate this feature. I don’t mind furniture wearing down and not being worth as much if it doesn’t change the appearance of the item. I wouldn’t mind if zois start to get a sore back or poor sleep because they need a new or refurbished bed.

The thing is, in any other game, I haven’t had to deal with furniture looking scuffed up and yucky when it hasn’t even been one in-game year!

My real bed doesn’t look like it’s been disrespected by cats for ten years even though my cats walk on the headboard all the time. I will add it to the Wishlist section that I would like this feature gone completely, so a setting, cleat, or decision by the devs would really help me to enjoy the game more.

I don’t want to replace all the furniture a few times a year. It’s ridiculous, and seriously not fun at all. I play the game for fun, not to have to deal with scuffed up items (bed tables, etc.) that I can’t even refurbish. I have to replace them.

Alternatively, make it a single click action. Click on the bed and select “replace,” and the furniture item is instantly sold for whatever it was still worth, and a brand new identical replacement automatically appears. That would require having the funds on hand to do it. But it would be more fun.

I want the game to be more fun, not less. This feature definitely reduces the fun for me, and I don’t support that.

Sorry, I’ll add it to the Wishlist too, but I just read your post that not being able to refurbish some items is intended. :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Please add a setting or cheat for this feature! It isn’t fun. I’m sure it was intended to be, but it’s not what I want in my game. If we can stop utility bills entirely, we ought to be able to get rid of this headache forever.

Thank you! :folded_hands: :orange_heart:

That was my assumption, to be honest, but it just doesn’t make sense. Visible ageing happens far too fast, like dirt buildup used to be on release, and cannot be prevented, or rectified in a lot of cases.

As Starwing says, I wouldn’t mind if furniture could be replaced with a one-click interaction, after about an in-game year. But having to go into build mode, and replace every item - many of which houses are likely to have multiples of (ie: dining chairs, cabinets), is tedious and frustrating.

Perhaps having the option to turn object ageing off altogether would be a popular one - though personally I like it, as I have said. It just needs to be implemented better.

Dear developers,

My Zoi usually lives in Bliss Bay and I sometimes make her travel to Cahaya. I noticed that after leaving Cahaya for a brief a period of time, I came back to Cahaya and all the furniture needed fixing and I couldn’t fix it. I had no choice but to buy new furniture to replace them in game

This is really annoying and I so hope this gets fixed soon :psycat_sad:

We already discussed these issues in this thread and here is was AR_Flora answered:

Thanks!
