Next Location DLC: let's talk about our wishes for what kind of location

For me personally, I would really love to see a Latin American location. That’s my top pick if I could. Second is rural Russia or maybe Siberia. Third is West Africa (maybe Nigeria or Ghana inspired). But I’d love to see a forested rural setting too, maybe Canada or Scandinavia, and also love to see a Middle-Eastern setting, something like Dubai would be cool.

I’d like to see the dev team have at least one world in each broad geographic region / “part” of the world first, instead of clustering them in one region before trying to diversify (like how another simulator clustered its worlds around North America early on).

Currently, they have cities in East Asia, Maritime/Southeast Asia, and North America, so there’s a lot of potential for new worlds, such as the ones you mentioned.

One I will add is an Australian world. Like Cahaya; it can have regions; there could be a modern city area, with arts and nightlife, and an outback region focused on self-reliance and survival. Zois who venture out into the outback without preparation (or Zois who swim outside designated areas) are at risk of being killed or injured by the wildlife.

I’d also would like to have some Middle-East locations, maybe North African. It would be cool to have a city with huge skyscrapers in the center and some old town districts with bazaar. Lots of content related to that theme can be made, like ornamented archways or wooden doors, all kinds of lanterns, carpets, vases and all that, also roof and wall decorations with carvings. And new clothes can be implemented, like hijab or dishdasha. New dishes and street vendors.

I will promote my opinion about the Alpine location) Post at this link: Idea for a new region: Switzerland. At the moment, all these cities are the place where you would like to go in your dreams. For me, there is nothing more beautiful than the Alps

Mediterranean! Italianate/Greek/Spanish architecture, beautiful Tuscan style scenery, hill villas and vineyards - with the ability to make wine of course! Zoi’s can’t even drink the stuff yet, in spite of having decorative wine racks etc. - please add this!

Cycling would also be cool in such a world, especially with small cobbled streets possibly unsuitable for larger vehicles. And maybe tavernas/bistros etc? Perhaps even the ability to run one?

Also possibly livestock and or horse ranches, riding would be so cool in an open world (and how many horse-game lovers would that dlc bring in?!)

A falafel stall would be awesome

When choosing a world, several nuances come up right away – gameplay features need to be clearly “sorted” across DLCs so that:
a. each DLC has a central mechanic and some standard level of quality and quantity
b. a world doesn’t pull mechanics away from other potentially strong DLCs
c. mechanics don’t get duplicated across DLCs
d. generic worlds sell better, are more replayable, and easier to fill with all gameplay-relevant options (schools, carrers, events), so they’re not just vacation-only, etc.

That’s why I support:

  1. a world inspired by the Alps, thanks to clearly defined mechanics in rural and mountain environments: Idea for a new region: Switzerland
  2. a world inspired by Monaco, thanks to clearly defined mechanics in luxury: A DLC Focused on Luxury
My opinion — the wolds need more work to support all play styles, so that any life-long goals and builds fit naturally into the environment, though even here all of it still needs to lean a bit more generic. So, Monaco aligns with Beverly Hills (luxury, status, social energy), while the Alps align with Whistler (Canada) (seasonality, isolation, vertical movement). But overall, brilliant work, well done, guys.

I’d like to see a African based world that’s like Assassins Creed Origins that could transition from desert, to town, then mountains, to large bodies of water surrounded by trees. That would introduce new animals and different ecosystems. But new types of activities to do from history tours and lore and historical equivalent sites like the temples in Cahaya.

A French or Italian inspired world that can have multiple areas like a seaside world with a nice town not a city like Paris, so we can get new architecture and build buy tools and furniture, but also new skills and cuisines to make

I agree.

We also need to have a basic area to play. It shouldn’t be DLC, it should be base game. It needs to be an areas where people can build their own region. A space with more empty lots so that the player can shape it. We already have that ability to an extent, with the weather, placing trees, deciding the karma of the city etc. We just need the space to really use it.

This would be great for players who have been using the game for a while and are ready to experiment.

I would also love to see them add one city/town/area/whatever from each major geographical region (Northern Europe, West Africa, Southern Africa, the Middle East, south Asia/India, Southern Europe, Eastern Europe, north Asia/Russia, South America, Central America, Australasia, they already have North America, East Asia, and eastern Pacific Islands) before they began adding additional places in any of those regions. Thank you for participating and sharing your thoughts!

This is a great idea, thanks for adding!!

Thanks for contributing!! That sounds cool, personally rather than combining all those different African regions into one area in the game I’d rather them make (over time and not one-after-the-other) multiple places for major regions.

It’d also be cool to include local functions and activities

That would be cool, personally I hope for both types to eventually someday be added, though I’m personally less excited to play in a French or Italian setting yet but I know I would buy it because it’s still cool

This makes sense, but I don’t want them to make generic locations, i would rather them make BOTH the alps and also Canada (Beverly Hills is right by Bliss Bay so kind of allready included). But certainly it makes sense for the DLC worlds to come with related new content, or for new content to be paired with a region that makes sense to go along with the content.
Personally I feel like Dubai or someplace in Italy would work better for luxury, and that Monaco is such a small and less famous area that it’d be less exciting for many players, but maybe I’m wrong. Dubai is world-famous for it’s luxury though and wealthy people living there
But interesting ideas and thank you so much for contributing your thoughts

Yeah = )
Thank you for adding your thoughts!!

Yes, these are great ideas, thank you so much for sharing!

I feel like goat or sheep ranching would work really well for those areas, since that’s more popular there and goat and sheep’s milk/dairy is also more popular there

not opposed to horses though, it would be cool to go along with a place that added horse racing that is famous for its horses or races, or maybe Russia or Central Asia since they farm horses for milk there and use horse dairy and have heritage of some of the best horse-riders to ever be in known-history and an intense horse culture (historically and in some places this is modern as well)

I agree that is a beautiful place and I think many others would also like it

for me personally I’m less excited for it than some other possible locations but something like that i would love to play in as well and is high on my wishlist lol

Thank you so much for sharing and adding your thoughts here as well, and linking to your full post for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet to see your full thoughts and contribute how they feel about it

These are very cool ideas that I would also be very excited for to play in the game and buy the DLC

Thank you so much for adding your thoughts! I feel like its best to try to keep alll these ideas about locations for DLCs in one place so it’s easier for players to see all the ideas and vote on them, and then easier for the employees of Krafton to see everything concerning that all in one space. I noticed there were a couple spread out, so I’m hoping we can put them together and have everyone contribute so the team gets a good idea what many people are wanting

Well, we have to understand that there will be a limited number of DLCs, and they’ll cost money. And if the goal is not just a wow effect, but retaining a stable audience, then we need to balance things.

If, across 10 DLCs, most gameplay features end up attached to highly distinct and fragmented locations, then essentially we won’t get a game about the home nest and connections, the cottage nearby, the film studio down the road, etc. (like it feels in GTA-like games, because they have agglomeration).

Instead, we get that Sims 3 moment – you moved, all connections frozen. But in Sims 3, we didn’t have decorative shells, we could freely place new lots, create new worlds and the game even suggested it. Here, that’s not the case. The new option becomes: travel 10,000 km and break your story logic.

Different towns become different save files, with no connection between them. That’s fine for trying things out, but later the player will return to the base gameplay, and modders will aim to build an all-in-one world. Honestly, even the base districts are only about 20% ready.

That’s why, for example, I don’t want the Alps or Monaco as special regions. I want a farm at the foot of the mountains and a luxury district — to have freedom for storytelling.

On the other hand, I’m proposing to expand the existing cities — saturate them with nightlife, clubs, scenes, yachts, surfers, choppers, URBZ-like subcultures, build out a Hollywood-style zone with studio lots. But clearly, that’s where the vision diverges from the broader audience. Thankfully, I’ve got GTA and other games for that)

I agree with this point, I think that all worlds or “cities” (whether literal cities or not) need to be complete enough in themselves to allow comprehensive gameplay. Unless they are like Cahaya and can be visited without disrupting existing gameplay, which can be returned to without losing progress or relationships.

Ideally I guess it would be great to be able to “visit” any world, or live there, so that it is possible to experience everything without needing separate saves for every new dlc (though I am conscious that this is the way I have tended to play in TS, but that is a playstyle choice).

Absolutely. I believe this factor is the main thing holding the audience — esp. core DLC functions that work across all worlds/cities. For example, B&H offered a mediocre town, but the mechanic pushed the audience to 60k. Meanwhile, the niche “in its own world” EbN dropped the numbers. AA will launch, there’ll be another spike, followed by long-term decline (+ EA App, you can x2 x3). Replayability and seamless gameplay options are super necessary in the long run. Island Getaway also had a sharp drop, which means the focus should be on stronger replayability (vacation customisation, free movement within a single save, ability to control or place parts of these features (like hotels, spa, laundry or water transport) in the base cities, etc.). If I’m wrong, please let me know.
