Fishing – Skill progression & money guide (Level 0 → Level 10)
In my rotational play I’m testing different money-making skills with Zois dedicated to a single skill. Since I noted everything down for future reference, I’m sharing my Fishing observations here.
Settings: 96-minute day
Bait cost: 5 Mew each → Fish 5x with bait = 25 Mew per session
Quick Summary
-
Unusually slow Level 0: Level 0 → Level 1 took ~1h15 (most skills have a “quick starter level”).
-
Session length: “Fish 5x” usually takes 30–45 min (later levels trend toward ~30 min as slipping/falling becomes rare).
-
Very inconsistent leveling: time-to-level swings heavily (fast → slow → fast → very slow).
-
Best reliable income: Dowon and Cahaya Park, especially evening/night.
-
Bait = reliability, not higher peaks: it reduces low-end runs/trash, but costs 25 Mew per session.
Time to level up (my run)
This skill is atypical because leveling times jump up/down a lot.
| Level-up | Time |
|---|---|
| Level 0 → Level 1 | ~1h15 |
| Level 1 → Level 2 | ~1h45 |
| Level 2 → Level 3 | ~1h20 |
| Level 3 → Level 4 | ~2h30 |
| Level 4 → Level 5 | ~1h20 |
| Level 5 → Level 6 | ~3h30 |
| Level 6 → Level 7 | ~2h45 |
| Level 7 → Level 8 | ~4h45 |
| Level 8 → Level 9 | ~2h10 |
| Level 9 → Level 10 | ~6h |
Total (pure fishing time): ~27h20m in-game (not counting walking/needs/social)
Earnings by level (gross fish value during each level-up)
Early levels: Bliss Bay vs Dowon
| Level-up | Location | Time | Total fish value | Gross Mew/h |

| Level 0 → Level 1 | Dowon | ~1h15 | 106 | ~85/h |
| Level 1 → Level 2 | Bliss Bay | ~1h45 | 104 | ~59/h |
| Level 1 → Level 2 | Dowon | ~1h45 | 292 | ~167/h |
| Level 2 → Level 3 | Bliss Bay | ~1h20 | 78 | ~59/h |

Mid/high levels (Bliss Bay totals per level)
| Level-up | Time | Total fish value | Gross Mew/h |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 4 → Level 5 | ~1h20 | 109 | ~82/h |
| Level 5 → Level 6 | ~3h30 | 290 | ~83/h |
| Level 6 → Level 7 | ~2h45 | 188 | ~68/h |
| Level 7 → Level 8 | ~4h45 | 367 | ~77/h |
| Level 8 → Level 9 | ~2h10 | 250 | ~115/h |
| Level 9 → Level 10 | ~6h | 551 | ~92/h |
Net profit reminder: subtract 25 Mew for each “Fish 5x with bait” session you used.
Location profitability (recommendation + Level 10 ranges)
Bliss Bay
-
Good for leveling/testing, weak for money once you account for bait costs.
-
Level 10 per “Fish 5x” session:
-
No bait: ~30–70 Mew
-
With bait: ~50–80 Mew
-
Cahaya Beach
- Similar to Bliss Bay in my testing (low-value, not great for reliable income).
Dowon (best reliable income in my runs)
-
Much higher-value fish pool; beats Bliss Bay even at low levels (see low level table above).
-
Evening/night has better fishpool in terms of value than daytime.
-
Level 10 per “Fish 5x” session:
-
No bait: ~20–450 Mew (very high variance)
-
With bait: ~128–470 Mew (more reliable)
-
Cahaya Park
- Similar to Dowon and consistently better than Bliss Bay/Cahaya Beach, especially evening/night.
Cahaya Boat Fishing (high ceiling, lower reliability)
-
With bait (typical): ~140–200 Mew per 5x
-
Apart from bait costs you need to count in boat rental costs.
-
With bait (rare spike): can go 600+ if you hit rare expensive fish (e.g., Ghost Great White Shark alone sells for 600).
-
No bait: similar impression to other spots (more low-end outcomes).
-
Slipping / falling: happens more often even at high levels vs. at land = less reliable catches
Bait vs no bait
-
With bait: fewer trash pulls and fewer low-end runs; the results per “fish 5x” cluster more toward the top of the usual range.
-
Without bait: you can still hit great sessions, but the variance is much larger (see Dowon example above).
Takeaway: bait mostly improves reliability, not the maximum. In low-value spots, the 25 Mew cost often isn’t worth it.
Rod requirements
Many fish require a minimum rod tier (Wooden, Iron, Copper, Silver, Gold, Jewel). Some rare fish are Jewel-only (e.g., Great White Shark / Ghost Great White Shark).
Use the great guide from @LennyOgg when chasing specific species: Where to catch which fish (A guide from players for players)
Slipping / falling
-
“Fish 5x” takes 30–45 min depending on success and how often your Zoi slips/falls.
-
From Level 8 onward, slipping became rare and “5x fishing = 5 fish caught” happened more often.
Fish tanks (unlock behavior)
NeoShine fish tanks unlocked right after catching a new fish species (not strictly on level-up). That suggests tank unlocks are tied to number of discovered species. The guide from @LennyOgg also notes tank sizes / displayability.
Level 10 note (aspiration/gear)
If you pursue and fulfill Godlike Angler and reach Level 10, you can buy Silver / Gold / Jewel fishing rods at the fishing supply store.
