First at all I LOVE that the Zois use their underwear when they are taking a shower. Once you color the underwear to the same as their skin tone it looks very natural.
But I think when they get out from the shower or bath they should still wear the towel instead of the robe. I think the robe should be exclusive for the spa. The towel seems more natural and realistic when you are at home. The robe with the slippers give more of a spa vive.
The second option would be having them use the towel when they get out from the bath or shower to pretend they are drying their bodies and then change to the robe. It would seem better as a progression when you are taking a bath or a shower. I’m attaching some picts so you can see what I mean. They shower in their underwear, then they use the towel when they get out from the bath or shower, then lastly the change to the robe

Although I haven’t had much time to play yet and haven’t seen it in action, I agree that the robe and slippers give more of a spa vibe than what I expect of people showering or bathing at home.
I like your idea of transitioning to the towel, then the robe.

Heck I’d take an option to still shower/bathe with the towel (just dont put the blur back.
I got destroyed on discord because ppl don’t get the word “option” as in you need to click it on in a menu
Never had problem with towel personally. Sad it’s gone instead of just being off by default and that I could turn it back on.

Same here I at first didn’t like the towel, but I got use to it and saw it as an important feature of the game. I would like to get the towel back too.

Now that I’ve finally been able to play and have a zoi take a nice soak in a bath, I’m curious about the trick of the underwear colour. Do you need to add the underwear to all outfits so it’ll always work? I know they won’t be visible even with a bathing suit on, but I’m curious how to do this.
I thought it looked strange with my girl bathing in her underwear.
I agree with @Samuriko that an option to use the towel without the blur would be preferred by some players. Others may prefer it this way.
I am definitely going to try some more when I get into the game and try the re-coloured underwear trick. It just won’t work for anyone who sleeps in underwear and doesn’t change clothes between sleep and the shower, I guess. 
Some of my female zois use other underwear bottoms as part of their sleepwear.

I only have my zoi wear underwear for the everyday outfit and color it the same as her/his skin color. It works. Sometimes it bugged out and the underwear changes to white. Mostly when they take bath together as a couple. But the trick works about 90% of the time

The cloth has a bit of a pattern texture to it, so I can’t get it perfectly matched, but probably close enough for improved emersion.
I mean, it’s not like I gawk at my zois using the shower or tub, but I definitely pay closer attention when they’re taking a romantic bath or soaking for relaxation. And whenever I do see them, it’s nice if it makes sense.
In GTA V and GTA Online, the characters shower in their swimsuits, so it might’ve been partial inspiration when they were thinking of ways to make the romantic bath nice so there wouldn’t be a massive blur obscuring the details.
One thing I liked is that when I queued up actions for a zoi to do right after the shower, she came out into the living room to do that and wore her robe. That looked natural because she was “still drying off.”
I guess I have to play it more to see if I like this new way or not. I definitely enjoyed it when they would wear the towel and blow dry their hair after the shower.
My opinion
I think a transition to the towel and then the robe would be best especially for showers. After a bath, going to the robe might make more sense because it could be a romantic bath and the partners would be able to relax together in their robes briefly if you queue up something for them. Maybe they could go straight to play a game of chess in their bath robes. That would be neat.
Whenever options can be made available, I’m all for it! It one thing I love most about inZOI: we have a lot of ability to customize our game settings and city settings to tailor the game to our own preferences and fun experience. If the team needs to stick to one method of showering and bathing because they want to add other animations or something, then it’s understandable, but I think it wouldn’t be that difficult to have the towel as an option for at least most of those animations.
I also really like having another style of underwear for our characters. That was a nice bonus! 
P.S. Maybe it would be nice to have the ability to lounge around in the bath robe. I’d like that.
