One year ago from march 28, I played about 700 hours then I stopped in july. Now I want to try again and there are still basic problems.
I’m using the 7.1.0 game version.
Bug
I downloaded 60 mods for CAZ from the official CurseForge store using the game menu, but 15 of them (25%) were marked as “Invalid” with the error message : “Asset Compatibility Error”.
==> the mods which cannot be used by the game should not be in the CurseForge list of mods, so that we could not download them and lost a lot of time.

Same thing happened to me. Spent 2 hours shopping for CAZ in the official cursed forge in-game just be told 20 items of the 50 I downloaded couldn’t be used/invalid.

To properly handle this bug for the end user, at minimum you would need:

  • either not display incompatible mods in the search results list
  • or gray them out with a message: “pending update” or other indication
  • or of course ensure that the program handles the format change internally to ensure compatibility invisibly to the user: this is a basic principle for a professional programmer. Eventually when it becomes unnecessary, we can remove this double handling from the code.

I hate this honestly. What changed to make a clothing mod for example incompatible? There are so many games out there, and for many of them, mods never become incompatible.
Why is half my library suddenly incompatible? Why doesn’t the game at least try to do something when I tell it to?

It stopped me playing the game entirely. The AUTOMATIC update rendered ALL of my savegames completely unusable. And with my characters and homes basically gone, I don’t see any reason to continue with this game. It’s only going to break all of them again.

Thanks InZoi Team, by doing it like this, it’s as if you are trying to piss off users and get rid of them. You successfully destroyed my trust at least and I won’t start a new game for now. And if I read that you keep breaking mods with mandatory updates, I will ditch the game from my library entirely.

Good luck

Basically, mods break when the game updates.
It seems to be making good progress these days as mods did not even break in the 0.7.0 update.

BUT if they did break, you need to wait for the creator to update them.
If the creator is done with InZOI, or only plays when they get a free game update before players or get a free expansion (DLC) every year or 2, then their mods are never updated and unusable.

Same goes for house/properties. 0.7.0 broke ALL properties, some much worse than others.
If creators do not update their creation, it becomes at best buggy, and at worse unusable.

Sucks, but that’s the gist of it.
