settings in Options resetting to defaults every time i start the game

  • Steps to Reproduce: Well, if i change anything in options (say background music, or anything in other menus, like Aging - next time i start the game it reverts all settings to defaults. Music playing again, i get popup windows coming on as if i started the game first time.

This has been a problem before indeed (check here).

While the devs / ARs get to this post, I will try to help a bit.

Try these:

  • Remove “Read-Only” from Config Files: Navigate to the inZOI saved folder (usually AppData\Local\inZoi\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor or similar). Right-click GameUserSettings.ini, select Properties, and ensure “Read-only” is unchecked.

  • Clear Web Cache: Delete the AppData\Local\inZoi\webcache_4430 folder.

  • Verify Game Files: In Steam, right-click inZOI, select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.

  • Disable Overlays: Disable overlays from software like Discord or NVIDIA GeForce Experience, which can interfere with settings saving.

  • Disable Cloud Sync: If settings continue to reset, try disabling Steam Cloud for the game temporarily to see if a corrupted cloud profile is overwriting your local settings.

If using mods, temporarily remove them to ensure they are not causing conflicts

Revoking the read-only permission did the trick - settings now persist correctly after restarting the game.
Just a quick note for clarification: there are two game-related folders in AppData\Local - AppData\Local\inZoi and AppData\Local\BlueClient. Granting full access to both resolved the issue.
